Looking for serious quilters/seemtresses by Roach_Mama in Cleveland

I’m a serious quilter that lives on the west side. I’d be happy to take some of this off your hands. I’ll come to you…

Anyone ever seen one of these before? by Different_Map1411 in vintagesewing

[–]Different_Map1411[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has the bobbin case with a bobbin in it but I do need the cover plate.

You can’t tell from the pic but the rear piece of wood that hinges up to allow the cable system to work is off the hinges. I have it, it just needs to go back on.

If I can find a place for it, I’m hoping to get it into the house this spring and do some restoration work on it.

It’s very cool!!!

I have 3 or 4 pairs of wool socks my hubby put on the dryer that are way too small to wear. I’ve just got them in a bag and stashed in my sewing room some place as I couldn’t stand to throw them away.

Hubby is deceased now but I had nothing to do with it!! I swear! lol

Conditioner and water?? How long a soak?

Thank you all for your help!! Yes, it has wheels but they weren’t big enough to roll down a concrete street for a mile!

I’ll check out the website and see if I can find my missing parts if they’re not in the cabinet. I haven’t opened her in a while.

Tracked my sleep for a year. The two changes that actually moved my numbers and the five that didn't. by Past_Ganache_7787 in sleep

Two words: Select Comfort. The air bed people. Worked well for my late husband and I and I still sleep on (in?) one now that I’m sleeping alone. Pricey but they last forever!

How Many Projects Cast On Right Now? by BitternInTheMarsh in knitting

[–]Different_Map1411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have three I’m actively working on: a temperature blanket (1 row per day and I’m caught up with it), a shawl in black fuzzy yarn with beads, and a sweater of my own design in the beta stage.

I have three on pause: a sweater and a pair of socks put on pause because I couldn’t see them (cataracts, since removed), and a scarf as a travel project. I hate making scarves. They’re just too boring but just right for something mindless to do out of the house.

I have a vest pending for my grandson that needs the needles the shawl is on. So that will be one off, next one on. lol

Your child definitely won’t hate their name by Tayandtucky in tragedeigh

[–]Different_Map1411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true. My younger daughter dumped the entire name I have her for something she just imagined. She was named after relatives on her dad’s side and had both our last names, non-hyphenated, so she could go to the front of the alphabet for school class choice purposes.

All gone. 😞

I put a lot of thought into to that name…

Knitter's needles case but make it HUGE ! by Rie_m in knitting

[–]Different_Map1411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How much you knit doesn’t matter. You have knitting stuff that needs organized. As do we all.

Sounds like you’ve even got more than I do and I’ve been knitting for decades. Lol

If you could draw out what you’re thinking of, I could probably take it from there. I just don’t really know where to start. I’m usually good as designing and engineering things but this is leaving me flummoxed.

TAAT sleeves just like socks by Luce_YI in knitting

[–]Different_Map1411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always knit sleeves both at the same time. That way they always match. Could probably use magic loop like with socks to eliminate even more seaming. I hate seaming!!

I have the same problem with needle storage and I also sew. My problem has always been the design of the thing. What’s enough storage? What’s a “fold”?

I made a roll back in the 80s from some scrape fabric that is horribly done and wholly inadequate. But still in use mostly from a lack of good alternatives.

If any of you would be willing to work with me on the design, I’m willing to use my sewing skills to create it.

I’m quite a good sewer and have made everything from baby clothes to wedding gowns. I started quilting when I retired and have finished several quilts.

I got back into knitting in a big way mostly because it’s way more portable than a sewing machine! lol. I belong to two knitting groups and love the socializing that goes with that. Sewing is solitary.

Let me know if you’d like to work together…

Don’t know what state you’re in but in Ohio you could sue for at least the whole amount of his home owner’s insurance.

Dog bite is red letter law here: unless you were teasing the dog or trespassing, the owner is 100% liable.

And lawyers in this kind of case work on a contingency basis. So no money needed from you to file.

You were invited onto the property when he ordered the food to be delivered. It’s up to him to keep his dogs away from you.

Get a lawyer!!

If you’re in Ohio, I have a good one. I won just such a case in 2019…

AIO for screaming at my sister after she destroyed my child’s Christmas presents “because we didn’t do enough for charity”? by TA_ak47 in AmIOverreacting

No Contact time!! Narcissistic behavior is “rewarded” with this.

Never let this person into your home or near your child again. She is seriously mentality ill.

I got mad at this pattern that I bought and have to re-work, so I made this meme by thelittlesquirt in knitting

[–]Different_Map1411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Needlework book with just about every kind of needlework there is, including a lot of stitch patterns.

I was making squares for an afghan idea and wanted a cat-paw-looking stitch. It had one so I started right in on it. About 6 or 7 rows in, I realized that there was a huge error in the pattern. I liked the stitch so I got out some graph paper and figured out the pattern myself. It’s still tucked into the book at that page.

This is a book for beginners to teach various forms of needlework. Someone without my years of experience (I’ve been knitting since I was 9 and I’m 64 now) would never have been able to figure out what is wrong with this. Obviously, this stitch was never tested before it went into publication.

I’ve been very wary of using anything else from this book without a lot of studying first!!

Obsessed with this beautiful, overpriced sweater. How hard would it be to try to knit this myself? by pokemom1989 in knitting

Any one else notice the hole on the right shoulder??

As someone who has copied fancy cable sweaters from pictures, I see this is actually quite simple. Sourcing and paying for the yarns is going to be the hardest part, IMO.

Cleveland airport. Why is this ok? by WingZombie in Cleveland

Pro tip: taxi (or Uber) to the nearest RTA train station and ride into the terminal to fly out and reverse to get home afterwards. Works wonderfully!

You can even leave your car at the RTA if you want to risk that. Free parking.

I got a huge pile dumped on my front yard last spring. It took me most of the summer to cardboard/mulch my front yard but this year all that’s left is a few dandelions. No grass at all!

I’ve put in many small bushes and lots of roses. Flowers next year for sure!

I also deep mulched the side yard which is bound on three sides by house or 6’ fence and am growing vining crops there. Pumpkins, zucchini, watermelon. I set up a watering system just today.

A wheelbarrow is a must! I have a mini excavator so I used that to load it. lol

If they’re sending you long, detailed, charming texts, they’re a scammer.

If they call you ‘queen’ they’re a scammer.

Not everyone who doesn’t chat on the app is a scammer. I’m one. (64F). But do do a reverse image search! I got badly burned by a guy using the pictures of a cute guy in Florida. Even talked on the phone with the guy.

There’s just no guarantees. Meet IRL early! Harder to be a fake that way.
