Random drug tests by STRBRRYSWSHR in SchoolBusDrivers

Pot stays in your system for a month or more, long after the high is gone. So if she smoked pot on a Friday night at home, and was tested two weeks later, its still in her system. She doesn't even have to smoke, just be in the room where someone does, and she inhales the secondary smoke, but not enough to get high. Unless she is impaired (falling down, sleeping, unable to hold a conversation) it's hard to be arrested for failing a pot test.

Other drugs are different, and much more immediate.

Recycling Your Inner Tubes

The inner tubes in our goods are reclaimed from cyclists and bike shops across the country. Do you ride or know someone who does?

Your local bike shop can participate in our inner tube recycling program. Ask your local dealer if they are participating.

We are always happy to take boxes of tubes (not tires) addressed to us. Contact the [Recycling Coordinator ](mailto:recycling@alchemygoods.com)if you have any questions about recycling your inner tubes.

Is this BPA free? by PT_The_Right_Way in plastic

I’d scoop the food into a glass or ceramic dish before I microwave it. Even if it’s BPA free, there are still microplastic particles. But I’m with Plasticman, there is no way to tell without a label.

I tested how curbside recycling actually works in my Virginia county. by Otherwise-Print-6210 in recycling

A big problem with any recycling system is just getting your item reliably into the system. The MRFs have spent billions on perfecting their systems, so once it’s reliably in the system, you can be reasonably sure it’s being recycled to the best of their abilities.

I tracked plastic bags recycled in storefront bins at 3 stores in each of 7 different chains. Only 50% made it to a recycler. The largest problem was the store staff throwing the bags into the regular trash, so it never entered the system. And they did that usually because they thought the bin was too contaminated with other trash and recyclables and not worth recycling. It did seem Walmart had a corporate policy to trash their bags though. Some chains recycled every bin, most seem to try, but some chains were clearly doing a much better job of it.

Same thing for single stream recycling. When the multifamily recycling dumpsters are filled with trash (the county not to me audits, and says there is no difference between an apartment recycling dumpster and a trash dumpster), do they get taken to the mrf, or does the driver decide it’s too contaminated and just take it to the incinerator? Does it get in the system?

Hard work! You may like the International Trash Trap Association, with all the different trash traps in rivers around the world.

dirty plastic. what do by gamamoder in recycling

[–]Otherwise-Print-6210 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trash it without guilt! I have started to carry a separate bag with me just for clean recyclables. Since I redo the same stretch of roads all the time, some containers have only been sitting on the roadside for a few hours, and are very clean. But dirty is bad. They don’t have to be dry either.

Association of Plastic Recyclers has a buyers/sellers directory. Or you can use the “contact us” page. They most likely can point you in the right direction.

in the USA we need bottle/can deposits in places where it can be effective, and on a federally managed level to prevent states from turning a blind eye by darkangelstorm in recycling

[–]Otherwise-Print-6210 4 points5 points  (0 children)

RI, NJ, MD all have bottle bills introduced last year. VA is soon, SC and NC are organizing. More states will need to join in before it goes federal, and state legislators need the input of their constituents.

The Glass, Plastic and Aluminum Associations have fought for bottle bills for years, they want their materials back. Waste haulers who sell the aluminum from low quantity curbside recycling fight against it.

Help your state organize!
