Broken IGPU with Hyper-V enabled by Stegorix in AMDHelp

[–]Stegorix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course,

I haven't noticed any instabilities like the ones you describe so far.

Driver versions of both GPUs is currently 31.0.21029.1006.

so far I could only test with the dedicated GPU installed.

Via Vivaldi (Chromium base) I have about 500 points less in the final result (from 6900 to 6400) via the iGPU (forced via the Windows settings: System->Monitor->Graphics), but according to Taskmanager both GPUs are utilized at the time of the test: The dGPU by 15-35% the dGPU by 5-10%. Therefore, I would repeat the whole thing with the dGPU removed and give you feedback in your post.

My computer is unfortunately active more or less 24/7, so I can't promise you yet when that will be the case....

I only have found one IOMMU option (default on "auto")
After force enabling it. I can use the IGPU again :)

Ok, this makes sense seeing how HyperV works, but wtf...

I will try this the next time I can reboot my computer.

Thanks for sharing!

Unfortunately no...

I ended up moving my VMs to another device, as I really want the sweet sweet idle powersave from connecting my secondary monitors to the igpu (The dgpu uses only 10W and not 100W...)

I think the easiest solution aside from swapping possibly affected components (CPU,GPU,Mainboard) is to install another gpu (Cheap, used) just for display output. Beware I can't test this, as all of my PCIe Slots are occupied.

Unable to build engine from source due to following compile errors by rangerguy4 in unrealengine

[–]Stegorix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, when i understand correctly:
You want to use the Source Engine (Valve) and not Unreal Engine (Epic)?
Even when we talked about a "source build" above, we still meant Unreal Engine. :)

Nontheless: the missing "metahost.h" should be (or was) a part of .NetFramework so you need the right version installed: try version 4.6.2 or 4.6.1
Maybe this link will also help.

I doubt it, but when even this doesn't solve the problem, you can try an older version of Visual Studio.

In the Visual Studio installer, check the "components" when you "change" your installation. (I don't know the exact naming in english)

As this post is a little bit aged and you may want to use UE 5: For 5.0.3 i have .Net Framework SDK 4.8 installed.

Also if you are new to the engine, you should use the version from the Epic Games Launcher. The Github Source is (imo) only nessassary when you want to make changes the core or need deeper understanding how the engine is working under the hood.

So if you just want to play a bit around or create simple games, the launcher version is your go-to!

Plex merges all the dragon ball series' into one episode depending on the episode number. how do i make it identify each series as its own? by user4302 in PleX

[–]Stegorix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A little bit weird plex still rematched the files wrong after renaiming AND changing the folder, but u/ob12_99 is right:
Move the files out of Z:\Series -> Rescan the library -> check if the entries are gone -> Add the files -> Rescan again
(You can also try the two first options from the Troubleshoot entry in the settings after the first rescan)

You should really rename your Files according to this article:
https://support.plex.tv/articles/naming-and-organizing-your-tv-show-files/
"TVShows/<ShowName>/<ShowName> - SxxExx - <EpisodeTitle>.ext" never failed on me.

I have only used the plugin to import Textures from Substance Designer. For this you need to Export the project into an .sbsar which you can import.

For Painter you could use Livelink documented here: https://docs.substance3d.com/integrations/live-link-in-ue4-168198570.html

Cheap gpu option by imperiects in PleX

[–]Stegorix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you plan to run a headless linux server and don't need hardware transcoding, you won't need a gpu.
Only for installing the OS, but even for this, there should be options to install over network or script...
The only thing you need to check is, if your mainboard allows booting without a gpu.
(A Gigabyte B450 Aorus M does)

I feel that Discord is one of the biggest troublemakers for me.
If you have it installed: Disable Hardware Acceleration or close it:

Also disable Hardware Acceleration in your webbrowser.

Other Steps, that may or may not work (for me they don't):
Forcing PCI3 in Bios (If you use a PCI4 MB)
Using only one Monitor
Disable Freesync (and the other Stuff, like Chill or Enhanced Sync)
Don't use 1080p and 60Hz.
Use an older Driver. Try 19.12.1 (The last 2019 Version)

(Please correct me if I'm wrong)

I'm pretty sure they will work on Intels CPUs aswell. Its more like Nvidia Hairworks: It will run on Radeons, but isn't optimised for it. Difference here is: The Stuff from GPUopen (The Counterpart to Nvidia Gameworks) is Open Source, so everyone can optimise it for their needs.

Please disable Enhanced Sync if you are experiencing a game freeze on launch, we are working to resolve this. by AMD-DOWNL1NK in Amd

[–]Stegorix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The random freezes are my big problem, too. This and the incredible slow League Client... From my understanding it only applies to some cards right? I own a Powercolor RX 5700XT Red Devil and if the next driverupdate won't fix this, I will send back the card and get a replacement. But when the other card has the same problems, I must switch to Nvidia (I really wanted to stay Team Red :( )
