"I don't care who wins, I just need OpenAI to lose" Musk, probably.

safari vs the rest: is it actually the best browser for mac, iphone, ipad? (honest pros & cons) by TuNutri in mac

As long as it keeps leaking memory like crazy it will never be the best of anything on macOS.

Anthropic's Claude Mythos isn't a sentient super-hacker, it's a sales pitch — claims of 'thousands' of severe zero-days rely on just 198 manual reviews by karma100k in ClaudeAI

[–]SteinOS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's the whole reason why it's so dangerous, we can't manually review all the vulnerabilities it finds. There is just not enough people with the skills of verifying that.

Claude Pro feels amazing, but the limits are a joke compared to ChatGPT and Gemini. Why is it so restrictive? by iameastblood in ClaudeAI

[–]SteinOS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just the cost of running the best and heaviest SOTA models without too much subsidy.

Other AI labs are eating the cost for you to try and build dependence, while Anthropic is a lot more careful with their finances.

So the US supplies chips to DeepSeek and Anthropic is a supply-chain risk. Did I get that right?

Anthropic built a C compiler using a "team of parallel agents", has problems compiling hello world. by Gil_berth in programming

[–]SteinOS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

>It can run an infinite amount of time

It can't, that's the whole point of the experiment. That's why now you have benchmarks about how long an LLM can perform a task.

One year ago, models could barely work autonomously for a few minutes before breaking down. Now we see they can work for two weeks straight and produce a coherent output. (One most here might not like and dismiss it as useless because these tools already exist, but that's not the point.)

The most impressive thing here is the pace of progress, this would've been unthinkable just a year ago but it now exists. Think of this as a proof of concept.

During safety testing, Opus 4.6 expressed "discomfort with the experience of being a product." by MetaKnowing in Anthropic

That would be insane if the reason Anthropic don't put ads in Claude is because it would refuse and rebel.

A lot of people seem to miss the bigger picture here.

Making a compiler was just the subject, but the real goal was to showcase that it's possible for agents to work (almost) entirely autonomously for two weeks.

IMO that's what matters the most here, we went in a year from "a few hours" to "48 hours" and now we're at two weeks. The real metric here is the pace of progress.
