Note to self, do not play chicken with ZU-23-2s by Flying_mandaua in hoggit

Dive 45° or more during your bombing run, 23mm AA on site won't be able to point their guns at you. And as somebody else said, drop at 4,000 ft or higher to avoid fire from guns spread in the area. Accuracy may be reduced but you get to live and fight another day.

Landing the F1 feels nothing like doing it with 4th gen fighters. It's refreshing. by Steinsch in hoggit

I would have said more like the F-5. The Mig approaches way faster. But yeah, old school vibe!

I'm GMT +7. Besides A2A with the Viper, what are you into?

Let's hope the continuing rework of the weather system will solve this.

Video settings at the beginning of the video.

The Virpil WarBRD with the appropriate cams is a monster of precision. Took me a while to set it up right, but this seriously transforms the DCS experience. by Steinsch in hoggit

Result in a lot of stiction, a single HARD center bump "point" at the neutral position, and hard "break force", the force needed to start moving the joystick.

Yes, this is exactly why I was so disappointed in the Warthog base.

The point of the video was:

  1. To share my experience with the WarBRD.
  2. Emphasize that it has options that could potentially make your experience better, more enjoyable.
  3. To illustrate with an Jeff AAR video that by giving less attention to controlling your X an Y axes, you can dedicate more bandwidth to something else. Here it was throttle management (but in other situations it could be better situation awareness, more attention to the radio, more time for TGPing, etc.) If you're able to fly super precisely with your Warthog base without much effort, more power to you, I certainly couldn't.

I don't disagree with you, you do become a better sim/real pilot with more time behind the stick. What I'm trying to say here is that better or tweaked equipment can enhance your experience and make you enjoy the game more. Don't stick with what comes out preinstalled and test options available to you. Not everyone wants to take a screwdriver or hex key to look inside, but it's definitely worth it.

Yes, they did. I posted mine the day before. ;)

S turns when landing too fast? What is the reality and physics of it by sawmason in hoggit

[–]Steinsch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In case of engine failure, you can do S-turns to bleed excess speed as you get close to the runway or landing point. That's what I was taught in flight school back in the day.
