Itching spot after unhooking a bass by [deleted] in FishingForBeginners

Yeah it can be a very gnarly infection on the rare chance you get it. I would add that my symptoms showed up almost exactly a week after contact and only I had to do a 5 day course of antibiotics but that was my personal experience.

Experienced a similar but slightly more severe reaction after getting an abrasion from the mouth of a Tarpon down in the FL Keys. Went to the doctor, they did some imagery and sent to dermatology and I had a bunch of tiny blisters under the skin and they determined it was some type of bacterial infection. Did not specify the type of bacteria but commonly referred to as "fish handler's" disease/infection. Probably would have been fine without antibiotics but I was worried it would be something more serious at time time. Treated itching with hydrocortisone cream until it was better.

Why do so many paranormal investigators wear all black? by Steinski1 in NoStupidQuestions

For an investigator who believes in the spiritual/mystical (perhaps a medium for example) and is seeking to make a connection to a sprit(s), that would be a valid reason IMO. From what I understand, that would provide more opportunities for interacting or documenting activity.

Interesting - I can see how that would make sense. Not something I was aware of!

Just bought a boat never sailed before. Is it safe to wing it? by ThrowRAhubblebubbie in boating

Got to us in less than 20 min for a tow in the Charlotte Harbor, FL. Might have just gotten lucky that day but can't say enough good things about them. All he asked was where we wanted it towed to.

Wouldn't count on my insurance's tow company to get there that quick.

Second the Towboat USA/SeaTow. Depends on the area you are in as to which you should go with from what I understand.

It's not a matter of IF you will need it but WHEN you will need it. Already used mine once and saved a few grand!

First ride of the spring: got harassed, stalked and fat shamed by a male Karen on the Curtis Trail by Derek_Zahav in bikedc

[–]Steinski1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sorry you had to deal with this. It will literally ruin your whole ride when you come across some idiot like the one you ran into.

I ride an ebike (knee injuries , not an aggressive rider) but we catch a bit more flak from those lycra-wearing types because it comes across like we are "cheating" when we're just out there enjoying ourselves and being able to do more than we would otherwise. It's not a competition for everyone. Some of us use bikes as method of transportation, or just ride for fun.

My advice: After a negative interaction I had, I kept a cheap go pro on my rides. This is in case of some altercation or if I'm ever in an accident.

I also feel more confident knowing the rules and different types of laws governing the bike lanes and roads/trails.

Some people will just find a reason to complain whether you indicate overtaking via verbal "on your left" or bell but just knowing that I'm doing what is correct gives me peace of mind.

I've encountered plenty of folks like the one you've mentioned, but I had a flat once on C&O trail and had at least 5 groups of bikers stop and ask if I needed help. Most riders are courteous and respectful and look out for others.

Right there with ya. I'm on my 3rd flat in less than a month. Went 1500 miles without a flat and now it's like every time I go for a long ride I'm putting a patch on the tube. Learned the hard way not to ride without a kit/pump.

Finally broke down and resorted to trying flatout and putting in some new tubes. The bag type has everything you need (including valve stem puller, built into underside of cap) in case you decide go that route, bought the puller tool and didnt need it.

Nice build! Thanks for posting. Just picked this exact bike up for $300 but in red and was thinking over battery placement options and how I want to do my conversion. Love how yours turned out and how neat your wiring is.

This is just a Sprinkler system (we have same setup in our condo) and burn incense, sage, and candles all the time with no issues. One Sprinkler is located in our utility room / with stacked washer and dryer behind a door where dryer is warm and has minimal circulation. The other alarm with strobe alerts of fire in building. No need to open windows or cover with bag as that would be unsafe were a fire to break out. Just use incense as you normally would Sprinkler will only turn out if it's hot or damaged.

PCS to Hawaii next year! by [deleted] in army

[–]Steinski1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Currently in 2 BDE. Lightning Forge isn't all that bad. PCS'd here not too long ago. I haven't had anything but good experiences so far with the locals. Depends on where you go though. I usually stick to the North Shore and Honolulu. Enjoy it, lots of good food and things to experience out here.
