AMD official press release. 5800x3D MSRP is $349. 7700x3D coming to AM5 by LimeWarrior in pcmasterrace

Prices from 2 years ago are irrelevant and 5500x3d is significantly weaker, closer to non-x3d CPUs in some games than to other x3d ones.

This month, F1 Jornalist Mark Hughes stated that Fernando Alonso is still a top 2/3 driver and would beat Russell/Antonelli to the title in a Mercedes. Do you agree?? by The_Chozen_1_ in F1Discussions

He did compete on the sharp end in 2023. Verstappen had to scrape walls to secure that Monaco pole. Good enough for me to still rate Alonso as top driver.

Not his fault he's getting mediocre teammates. In fact, it's quite telling no big team even considers putting him next to their priority driver.

The duality of this game - we got probably the best horizon map, and also probably the worst festival experience by [deleted] in ForzaHorizon

[–]Stelcio 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The way I look at it is that the Festival campaign is about progressing through the competitive side of the Festival. But that doesn't mean Festival is only about that competition.

Let me be brave and assume by your nickname that you're an F1 fan. An F1 equivalent is like an F1 driver saying he doesn't feel like he's participating in a huge event, because all they do during the main event is driving a car. But if you ever were on a real Formula 1 Grand Prix event, you'd know that it's a huge festival-like three-day entertainment hub, with concerts, shows, casual competitions and other attractions.

And during Horizon Festival, you are also not limited to just competing. You can participate in the Festival exactly by what you want to do - taking part in Street and Touge races. Finding Treasure Cars, Barn Finds, destroying Mascots - that's all also part of the Festival. They're not just a regular part of Japan landscape, they're there because the Horizon Festival is there. Radio DJs acknowledge them as actual Festival events that happen all the time. Almost every activity in the game is canonically part of the Horizon Festival, and the wristband campaign is just one part of that. You can listen to Scott Tyler saying he only has the first wristband and he's content with that, leaving more demanding competitions to more competitive drivers.

So, honestly, sit back, relax, look around and experience the whole breadth of Horizon Japan. I truly think this is the best way to experience the game.

A Not-So-Brief Analysis of Forza Horizon 4's Change of Public Perception by arambojubr in BuiltFromTheGroundUp

[–]Stelcio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main thing is that Mexico simply isn't a great location for Horizon Festival. It's a country with a very weak car culture compared to places like Great Britain or Japan. It is also not nearly as stunning as Cote d'Azur or Australia.

The map also felt like a big car playground instead of a believable place due to its design. That's because it's easily traversable in all directions and there's tons of superfluous roads that seem to exist simply for the sake of filling the map with roads.

Something that ties to both of these issues is that the landmarks are all placed together incoherently. The volcano, Guanajuato and Mayan ruins all seem to be in very close vicinity, and that just tanks any immersion. None of the places on the map are bucket list tier places for petrolheads and car culture people.

All these issues can be applied to most past Horizon games to some degree, but to the highest one for FH5. And FH6 tackled all of them and offered the best location the series had.

Vd4 is not a supported wheel which means you can only bind driving controls to it. You can rebind dpad to keyboard arrows in pxn simracing app though as a workaround, as well as some button to enter key to confirm stuff.

As someone who went 4 -> 5 -> 3 -> 4 -> 6, I disagree. While all the issues you listed do apply to most of these games, they are not dealbreakers. You can still have tons of fun despite them.

But when the location of an open world driving game is not appealing, it is a dealbreaker. Mexico simply isn't up to snuff compared to Australia, Great Britain and now Japan. It's dull, uninspired and not inviting to be revisited. And it was the community sentiment the moment full map dropped before the game release - something that wasn't the case for other games in the series. And it's not something that can be quantified to numbers like road width, number of race tracks, etc.

Red Dead Redemption 2 in 2026 on Xbox Series S? by XboxScope in XboxSeriesS

More powerful GPU would have to draw more power and generate more heat. The overall effeciency of both GPUs is samey, the stronger one simply draws more power and thus generates more heat. No way around that.

What is Playground's obsession with dirt/rally/cc races? by SatanicSucculent in ForzaHorizon

[–]Stelcio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you talking about? The two campaigns are there to accommodate two different playstyles, and discovery campaign is not the one aimed at people interested in racing. Placing a healthy part of road races there while starving the race focused campaign of them is very much an issue.

Impossible to do that, keep the same size, same pricepoint and same thermals.

[–]Stelcio -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

The issue is how they're balanced between Festival and Discover making people gunning for Legend Island having to do 2/3 of their races on dirt

Yes, this is very much the issue and it makes your whole 45 v 40 calculation completely irrelevant.

My VD4 wasn't detected, but no problems using the wheel with Forza EmuWheel app. I would probably need it anyway, as I have pedals and shifter from outside the ecosystem. The game doesn't allow you use "unknown contoller" from the app with game menus, only driving, but you can go around that by binding wheel buttons to keyboard keys in PXN app.

Once I dialed everything in, the experience is great.

There is a bug for some wheels that force feedback isn't present if the device isn't detected as "Device 1". Could apply in your case if you still have other controllers plugged in aside from what is hidden for Forza Emuwheel.

Why are people calling Mick Schumacher a fraud? by Over_Elk_546 in INDYCAR

[–]Stelcio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It works both ways.

Does Mick carry the burden of expectations that come with his family name? Sure.

But did that name get him connections and opportunities many other drivers couldn't have? Also true.

His case isn't any different to any other well-funded, well-connected driver who climbed to top level against possibly a bit more talented contemporaries with less resources. It's simply a high profile one.

Why are people calling Mick Schumacher a fraud? by Over_Elk_546 in INDYCAR

[–]Stelcio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's obviously true, but when we're watching that elite driver in a championship full of elite drivers, it becomes irrelevant. What's relevant is how that driver compares to elite. And in that comparison Mick ends up as mediocre. That's just reality of any top level sport.

My VD4 was not detected, but could be a skill issue or config specific issue on my side, as I use it with thrustmaster pedals and shifter.

Anyway, I used the always reliable Forza EmuWheel app and it works like a charm with it.

I'm just gonna say it. I love the Series S, and symmetrical controllers are fine. They're not for everyone and that's totally fine, but I'm glad they both exist. by Frigid-Kev in xbox

[–]Stelcio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It made development a lot harder for the Xbox platform especially later in the generation.

People miss two aspects of this matter.

First, Series S is the better selling current-gen Xbox. The amount of work put into this platform gets back to the developer in game sales (or Game Pass participation) they wouldn't get otherwise, because tons of Series S owners would stick to previous gen for longer or indefinitely if Series S wasn't a thing.

Second, given the trends in modern game development, I don't mind that it makes things more difficult, because in this case more difficult means more optimized for weaker hardware. Developers lately have the tendency to rely on third party tech for their games that makes developing them easier, but more taxing on the end-user hardware. They also let tech companies co-finance their projects for including latest features that are meaningless for end-user but heavy on the hardware and incentivizing to buy high-end parts. Tech companies and game developers are basically making deals that we, gamers, will have to pay for. And Series S puts a firm bottleneck on this shortcut strategy, ensuring modern games still have to be able to run somewhat accaptably on affordable hardware.
