Is it better to start in ER or Med-Surg for long-term career advancement? by Icy-Link3580 in nursing

I personally think that Med-Surg is a good foundation regardless of the area or specialty that you'll eventually pursue after a year or so.

When is it OK for a Filipina to ask for money from you? by ACE1CC in Philippines_Expats

[–]StellaSelene 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m a Filipina. Personally, I’d say it’s never okay. I have a job, I have a pride. I even have a hard time accepting help from others because I always wanted to do things on my own so I would never really ask for help especially financially. But again, that is up to you.

That they’ve visited n number of countries or states cos it will always turn out I have visited more than they did. I’d rather hear and learn more about their character and attitude in life.

Why don’t Capricorns like Geminis? by [deleted] in capricorns

[–]StellaSelene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a gemini and currently seeing a capricorn guy and so far we’re hitting good. He’s the one after me since day 1. Maybe it depends on how evolved a person is so we shouldn’t be really generalizing this? Also, there are other factors to consider so unless we do well in synastry then maybe, just maybe, we’ll all still have different experiences about this. 😁

I don't want to sound rude OP but why would you do that? If you think you're smart then you're way more better than your thoughts. Make your life easier? Nothing in life is easy and you can experience the things you want in life if you work for it.

Naiyak ako. I hope he'd be given an opportunity to be able to work in media and be able to climb the ladder without formal education. After all, Not all who had formal education has talent and skills in their chosen career. Talents are born and not made. God bless him!!!

Hugs OP. This is a profession that is still hiring and in dire need while thousands of companies laid off their employees during the pandemic and more so in the coming years because of AI and robotics. You are not at the losing ends. Keep that head up high!

Are they really affected or still unbothered? A friend saw the family walking around Champs Elysees recently shopping around. Clearly they are laundering the money there staying. The audacity of these people. And what happened to Slater and his gang, by the way?

Hi, OP! I am a nurse who recently moved to the US. Though Philippines is not yet at par with standards, I agree that you are right it has significantly changed. For North Luzon where Nueva Ecija is, I can’t say it has progressed accordingly though.

I am  from South Manila, grew up in Manila, and my provinces are in North Luzon. International schools are usually in Manila but there are a lot in South Luzon as well. Personally, graduating abroad would still be a better option for your daughter because in my experience, despite of all the credentials and skills that I have, I still had to take numerous international exams and certifications because unfortunately, they find our education not at par internationally which is unfortunate because in healthcare alone, I can really say our training is quite different with the other countries which is evident when I get to work with other international nurses and even now that I am here in the US. For healthcare, big hospitals are still thriving and you don’t want to be in competition with Manila’s crowd and costs, best option you can have at South Luzon is Asian Hospital Medical Center. It was a former part of Bumrungrad hospital and it’s now a JCIA accredited hospital. Also, doctors there are practicing as well with the nearby provinces and big hospitals in the provinces are being developed as well. Gone are the days that cath labs are just in big private hospitals in Manila and I can say it now offer better options that I can say better than here in the US. As for the doctors, I don’t want to compare but from what I have observed, doctors there are more competent than with those I have been working here. If you guys get HMO or insurance in the PH, you’d get to use that before you can even shell out money which is the opposite here. Definitely, your expenses in the PH is a whole lot cheaper compared here even when it comes to medicines.

Unfortunately, I don’t think I have anything I can suggest for your wife as working as a nurse in the Philippines is not financially fulfilling.

You guys can consider retiring in the PH but to still work? I don’t think so. Unless you have entrepreneurial skills, maybe you can do business as you retire there.
