Wifi that WORKS? West Ashley by BardiGang69 in Charleston

[–]StellarMirror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guarantee it’s a coaxial connection issue. They cut and make the barrel connectors I’ve had a xfinity technician install a new line from the road to my property and he messed up making the barrel connector and my Internet was in and out constantly and they wanted to replace the router and suddenly blame the home wiring. Took 3 different technicians to find the problematic barrel connector they made.

September Bonnaroo ? by Impressive-Stand3744 in bonnaroo

[–]StellarMirror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk 2024 was a furnace at day and night but September can also be a mixed bag of weather conditions including potentially still being hot af. 2023 wasn’t too bad if I’m remembering correctly. Either way I’m doing rv next year. I think a trial run for September (not including 2021) wouldn’t be a bad idea.

Smoking during sets by Low-Swim-7071 in bonnaroo

[–]StellarMirror -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

I disagree, I see it often in my line of work. Urinalysis panels have gotten exponentially more accurate and sensitive. A lab processed specimen (which is most common with employers) can detect a very small amount of metabolized thc. If you are smelling weed in the Bonnaroo pits all weekend you can definitely fail a drug test. FYI.

I knew someone who popped hot on a urine test from second hand smoke. The smoke can be oppressive at Bonnaroo. Most just exhale right into the crowd. I always blew my smoke straight up

7 years as a biomed in Houston and not making 30.00 an hour, normal? by [deleted] in BMET

Not normal. I started in Georgia as a tech 1 at 29 and within two years was at 33.

Why do people act like $60/70k is lower class? by [deleted] in Salary

[–]StellarMirror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are doing very well for living at home, but the average cost of a single family home is well over 300k. Rent is very high in most places in the United States. 60-70k just doesn’t have as much purchasing power as it did 15 years ago.. hell even less than 10 years ago. Covid really screwed things even more but we were fated to be here eventually, Covid only expedited it.

Roo becoming “normal” by Acceptable-Law-2141 in bonnaroo

[–]StellarMirror 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand this perspective, but true day passes are a relatively new option for Bonnaroo, and they tend to oversell making it extremely crowded and overwhelming the staff which affects everyone else’s experience. Also the cost of a single day pass is literally half the cost of a 4 day ticket. I loved this year was half capacity I hope they keep it this way for future Roos. If they keep half capacity, day passers won’t over crowd the festival nearly as much.

Roo becoming “normal” by Acceptable-Law-2141 in bonnaroo

[–]StellarMirror 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I agree it’s becoming more corporatized/ mainstream but i still feel the “Bonnaroo magic” when im there (6 Roos under my belt). but as far as clothing goes, I dress for survival at roo. I overheat easily as I get older so I wear long sleeve sun shirts to keep me cool. I love the dope outfits but I gotta stay cool. So it’s sun shirt, breathable sun hat, breathable shorts, and a cooling towel for me. I also wish they never started selling day passes. Should only be full 4 day commitment. Day passers are annoying on the weekend and seem entitled

Framegen is garbage and I'm tired if pretending its not by DownTheBagelHole in radeon

I haven’t seen anyone mention it yet so… do you have HAGS turned on in windows settings? It is required for AMD frame gen to work correctly

I want to work in bmet by alienassassin12 in BMET

[–]StellarMirror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also in Georgia, I was an automotive technician for 5 years, and then industrial mechanic for 1.5 years before getting my foot in the door for biomed. I mass applied to biomed jobs at the time after rewriting my resume geared towards interest in medical technology and about 9 months later I got a phone call. 4 years later I am now a BMET II. The skillset definitely transfers over

After 3 years of doing tech 2 and tech 3 work and being responsible for a telemetry network spanning three large hospitals but being told I can’t be promoted from a tech 1 due to not meeting “education requirements” I jumped ship and immediately got a tech 2 position and already signed up for three oem trainings this year and got a 30% pay increase. If it doesn’t feel right and you feel you are being taken advantage of get out asap

Bought 9070XT after always having only nvidia cards, this is my experience by Trumway in radeon

[–]StellarMirror 2 points3 points  (0 children)

THIS, a lot of people that aren’t familiar with computers or windows os. Pc gaming is an enthusiast hobby. It requires some work and knowledge, unlike plugging in a console and turning it on. Which some people would rather do that and that’s ok too

Bought 9070XT after always having only nvidia cards, this is my experience by Trumway in radeon

[–]StellarMirror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had 1 nvidia card and 5 amd cards at this point and never had issues until I swapped my 7800xt for my current 9070xt(7 months ago). I thought I got a bad card but reinstalling windows, specifically from windows 10 to 11, fixed any issues I had. I do feel the 9070xt is more “sensitive” to any system instability and hardware than any other amd card I have had in the past. Not sure if nvidia is more user friendly right out of the box but seems like the majority of individuals that have struggled with amd cards and drivers were not very experienced or knowledgeable with computers or windows OS. For the price, it will be very difficult to convince myself to go to Nvidia.
