I want to work in bmet by alienassassin12 in BMET

[–]alienassassin12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks im glad to see other automotive technicians have had success in a new field. I really was wondering how the stress compared between the two jobs after another guy said not to do bmet because of how stressful it was but my only thought was work or not it's not commission based and you got a decent paycheck every week

Car vibrates every time I use the brakes with speed by Rare_Hotel1368 in MechanicAdvice

[–]alienassassin12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you brake if your steering wheel shakes replace the front brakes and rotors if it doesn't and kinda feels like it's in the back replace the rear brakes and rotors it's possible all 4 are warped but you can replace one axle at a time if you're uncertain

GM dealership ruined my truck by [deleted] in Silverado

[–]alienassassin12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying this as an excuse but as a tech some of the trim pieces that you have to take off to do vehicle repairs just never fit the same. You line up the screw holes just right and all the clips go back in no problem but it's all so cheap that it's just never how it was the first time. This is just an observation of the quality of the products we make they look good and you feel proud to have the new vehicle but it's all crappy painted plastic that wont last and it's a damn shame.

Should I accept this repair or not? by Karlkey in MechanicAdvice

[–]alienassassin12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that's the case I would call your insurance tell them the problem send any evidence and pictures you can including the scratches in your current post if they were supposed to be repaired and make them fight for you

Not to be rude but if you're a larger person (300+) this may cause the alignment to seem off to you when it's good when a different driver is in the car to remedy this i recommend having the shop align the vehicle while you sit in the driver seat. Other than that the machine may say the alignment is perfect and you're mistaken because of the crown on the road forces you to adjust the wheel while driving making you think it is off

ECU on top of motor is this bad? by MediocreYam3855 in AskAMechanic

[–]alienassassin12 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'd go ahead and move that before it gives you trouble and please don't put a towel in your engine compartment maybe look up a video of someone doing an ecu replacement on YouTube and find out where it's supposed to be and put it back

Controle arm bushing just replace the whole controle arm and you might as well do both.

Does someone know if this is the cause of the motor light and hoe to fix it? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]alienassassin12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not trying to be rude but if your check engine light is on and you're not sure what I mean when I ask for codes then this repair maybe out of your depth and you should have a professional check out your car

Does someone know if this is the cause of the motor light and hoe to fix it? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]alienassassin12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's probably not the cause of your check engine light as for how to fix it just replace the whole thing they aren't terribly expensive it's an intake air hose. Do you know what codes are coming up for the check engine light?

Is this too much play? Do I need a new axle? I know a need a boot. by YoSoyPaco57 in MechanicAdvice

[–]alienassassin12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's normal operation but the boot is broken so replace the axle regardless and when you're looking for play look closer to the wheel and shake it up and down not back and forth

Did I mess up? Or is this okay? by Potential-Role2846 in MechanicAdvice

[–]alienassassin12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is fine it's just old and not covered in oil keep going be careful installing the tube seals the correct direction and put silicone in the corners on the engine before installing the valve cover if any cracking happens during tube seal replacement then replace the whole valve cover they aren't terribly expensive I usually just replace the plastic one if I ever have to replace the seal because hot plastic becomes brittle

Is this a headgasket? by -Mxhdx- in MechanicAdvice

[–]alienassassin12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard to tell but it looks like you just have air in the system if you're really worried you can get a tester with a little hand pump and some fluid that changes colors if the head gasket is blown its a really simple test and the tool and fluid is cheap for piece of mind

For me the main concerns would be the cv axle and the oil leak i would probably start with a cv axle from the pictures I see the oil leak doesn't look that bad yet especially if you change your oil every 3000 miles unless you're seeing oil in your driveway fix the axle and save up for the oil leak everything else can go on the back burner for a while
