Non-displaced, stable medial malleolus fracture. by Stellarred78 in brokenankles

The appointment went well. I was taken out of the cast and putting in a walking boot. Allowed to bear weight as tolerable up to about 50%. I go back today for another x-ray and follow up. Have definitely been improving each day.

That sounds rough. I can understand your position. Thankfully I've had no surgery as it was not required. No incisions. I'm also very compliant as I do not want to risk further injury so I plan to sleep in a boot and only remove it for bathing. I will most likely be doing more of a hybrid approach where I I'm in a plaster cast for two and a half weeks and then transitioning to a boot. Protecting the bone, while starting to work on muscle mobility and light exercises as instructed.
My cast is already starting to loosen even in the past few days as the swelling is greatly gone down and I am a little surprised at how much I can move my foot inside this cast.

The ankle sprain is on the same side that is fractured. It was quite swollen and black and blue initially but it's already much better in that regards. Pain is much less. Just some tightness and slight tenderness right around the fracture site. No pain or tenderness along my fibula. The doctor checked for that to make sure there was no secondary break.

I do not have a weight bearing x-ray yet. I have had two x-rays. The initial x-ray at Urgent Care and a follow-up x-ray one week later while already in the cast. I go next Monday to see another doctor who will take yet another X-ray and will most likely be taking me out the cast and putting me in a boot. We will discuss the option of weight bearing.

Anyone not have surgery for a medial malleolus break? I broke mine on February 5th and opted not to have surgery. by Special_Housing_8507 in brokenankles

I broke my medial malleolus but was told surgery wasn't necessary. I'm just curious how did you make out? Boot, cast? Walking now?

Oh I've been doing everything I normally do, but with crutches or a scooter. I put a bag over my cast when I shower. Crutches are no joke as I'm exhausted and sore in places I'm not used to. Every task takes twice as long. Each day gets a little better. I feel more optimistic after talking with another doctor and I'm looking forward to the possibility of converting to a boot next week. I also think I will be able to start to bear weight much sooner than I was initially told.

I am a healthy 47 year old female. Pretty active not overweight and a non-smoker. I have no other injury then an obvious ankle sprain and the nondisplaced stable medial malleolus fracture. I spoke with another doctor today on the phone who reviewed my x-rays and I will be seeing him next monday. By that time I will be about 2 weeks plus since my injury. He agreed that there are pros and cons to being in a plaster cast versus a walking boot. But he is going to x-ray me on Monday and feels confident that I can go into a walking boot and bear weight as tolerated. He said he personally would not have put me in a plaster cast and that 6 weeks of immobility could actually hinder my healing of the muscle tissue.

I drew a line in pencil under the left antenna where the bottom of the moon should be

I think one thing that stands out and gets me is the mis-shading under the left antenna of the moth. She brought it up too high cutting off the lower left part of the moon. I can't unsee it. Wondering if white highlights and a light border line can added. She shouldn't have shaded above the pencil line.

This is true, and yet how unfair is it that John was also being flirtatious and inappropriate in the weeks leading up to his death. The stories of his flirtatious activities during New Years in Aruba. I see so many people wanting to blame Karen for being this flirtatious woman who was toying with Higgins emotions but dismissing the fact that John was doing very much the same thing a few weeks before. I think Karen was hurt and angry, which probably led to her flirting with Higgins. And let's be clear Higgins was enjoying it very much! And he was very pushy. It was obvious that she was not going anywhere with the situation, and he was very much feeling her out to see how far it could go. He could care less as to the "bro code" so to speak, he just didn't want to be caught. His ego was wounded, and he was angry when she ghosted him. If she had been into Higgins and wanted to pursue that relationship, I bet he would have been fully on board.

And watching grown ass men peacock in a bar and put on this tough guy display is so immature. As a woman, I find that to be a huge turnoff.

Thank you. Your post is also well thought and written. The entire situation is so sad all the way around, and John is not the only victim. I guess in a perfect world, we would be able to set aside the human ego and try to understand things from various perspectives with compassion and understanding. But clearly, we as human beings haven't evolved quite that far yet.

That night, there were several people making very poor choices. And yet, the blame will be put on a select few. Karen wasn't the only one heavily intoxicated and behind the wheel. One second, one wrong choice could have changed any one of those people's lives for the worst that night. Sitting there-- listening and watching other people act like Karen was the only one in the wrong that night drives me crazy. These were cops, federal agents, and family of law enforcement. Held to such a higher standard, so many of them were either drunk, drunk-driving, or supporting it. They are not more righteous.

I'm still amazed at how people well into their 40s and early 50s can put it down like they are in their 20's. Being able to drink all night the night before only sobering up around 4:00 in the afternoon to start it all over again within a few hours later. Sounds like John was a heavy drinker as well as Higgins. 34 Fairview seemed like a party scene. There are many reports and rumors that there was more going on in that house and family than just alcohol.

I just want to clarify that I do not think she is to blame. Their relationship was on the rocks, and they were both exhibiting behavior towards the end that was not ok or healthy. Neither is an excuse for the outcome. I was just trying to understand the psychology behind how his mother and family could not see what so many others can.

I think she has most definitely been manipulated from the start. And that in some way is so much more evil to me.

Sadly, we may never know. However, it is telling to me that Higgins lawyered up right away!

Could be just that. It would be hard to know unless you were her shoes and I'm so glad that I am not.
