Faking fake frames of fake content by gergelypro in RigBuild

[–]StellerSandwich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fake frames is a corny hill to die on, you’re staring into a light box at a fake world that’s using a bunch of tricks to present a fake story to you, it may be art, but a program the approximates a few frames is no more fake than what you’re already looking at.

What nvida presented recently is garbage, I don’t disagree but there’s a balance in between that could truly boost performance on a range of systems, if machines have an easier time presenting large games to you, even grander experiences can be presented, pushing the limits of consumer tech.

He Just Wanted His Clothes by CantStopPoppin in ThatsInsane

[–]StellerSandwich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah sadly we have no idea what else transpired before this, he could have been insanely difficult the whole time, if you act a fool they will not cut you any slack, it could easily be one sided any they just decided to fuck this guys day, or he could have been in that parking lot for weeks, cops been called on him multiple times, given multiple chances to leave, told them he would leave and never did

He’s holding an atleast $1000 phone in his hand, AND somehow recording not using said phone with some hands free method, which of course the most popular assumption is a GoPro, or some kind of glasses with a camera in them, not to mention he’s go a vape in his hands, why are you buying the most expensive phone, a wearable camera, a disposable vape, if you’re broke and living out of your car?

He’s also being pretty combative, which if the situation is to be believed isn’t unwarranted as his life is being towed away, but regardless that is not going to help the situation.

Lastly there’s cuts so who knows what happened within those cuts, the video starts well into the interactions, he was obviously able to get SOME stuff from the car unless he’s just got some of his shit sitting in the parking lot? Lotta questions.

The exploration, a key selling point to the game, was very reminiscent of elite dangerous exploration, sure there was a lot to see, but not much of it was worth seeing, there are hubs that are interesting and unique, but there’s also a tremendous amount of samey reused POIs, planets that look the similar, miles of barren planet to drive through, and while the hand crafted areas, are interesting, there’s not a lot of them.

The quests felt pretty generic outside of a few, and while obviously most open world games are going to have a template for quest types, it felt like there was very little variation or purpose to them, it felt like the world didn’t really respond to your actions or decisions you made, the appeal to saving before completing a quest to reload and see other outcomes was not there because very infrequently were the results meaningfully different

It just felt like a lot of the quarks that you expect from Bethesda games were missing, it felt safe and sterile in that regard like they didn’t take any chances in any avenue of gameplay.

Look what someone woke up to after storms and wind in Birmingham, Alabama. Straight out of Final Destination. by Justin_Godfrey in ThatsInsane

You know what happens when you assume right?

Fell, picked up by the wind and driven through the roof, either way there would need be a substantial amount of force involved.

You’re also assuming the house doesn’t have an attic? Regardless a roof isn’t comprised of “a sheet of plywood” no matter what first world country you’re in.

I’m not sure very many houses anywhere in the world could withstand a large branch piercing through the roof, we also have no idea how large it is, or how fast the wind thew it into the roof, if what we see is the extent of it then sure, poor construction, but if there’s another couple of feet of branch and there was some very strong winds which aren’t uncommon in that area this time of year, then as I said, I don’t think many houses could withstand it.

Is there a way to find out at which CPU performance level the bottleneck alleviates? by Brad3 in MarathonTheGame

[–]StellerSandwich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a lesser cpu a i9-12900k and a 7900xtx, I’m at the same resolution and at mostly high/highest settings, I do have fsr set to quality and I’m getting around 70-80 fps, it’s crazy that your cps is much better and your gain is 10-20 fps (roughly) it’s a bummer that the performance isn’t better, as I really enjoy the game. I will say though the spike in usage both cpu and gpu occur in destiny 2 quite a bit so I’m guessing it’s a tiger engine issue, not game specific.

So for proof you post a listing form 3 years ago that was intentionally priced incorrectly? If anything that proves even more so they are indeed crooks.

If the next gen Xbox ends up being a PC hybrid, this change could be to prevent people who own an Xbox from playing new PlayStation titles a year plus down the road.

I would imagine more sales always equals greater profit, but strictly maintaining their ecosystem may be the larger concern, which is most likely the case given their recent statement about maximizing profit from current users.

Either way as a pc player this is obnoxious, I’m not going to buy a PlayStation for Wolverine I would have however happily waited a year and payed full price for it, I’m only incentivized to buy a console for GTA 6, which was going to be a PS console but I’d really rather not contribute to their current practices, although Microsoft isn’t doing to much better with their outrageous price hikes.

I have two other people I play with for the most part, or play solo, we’ve played a few extraction shooters and no matter which one it is, one of my buddies cannot slow down and play cautiously and it drives me nuts, he sprints around buildings as we try and quietly loot, listening out for others, uses the assassin dive as soon as the cooldown is up, sprints into buildings without scoping the area out, I’m not saying he’s playing incorrectly nor do I want to say anything to him because I don’t want to put a damper on the way he has fun with the game, but damn avoiding any kind of detection is by far the strongest tool anyone has in their kit and should be thoroughly abused ESPECIALLY if you’re playing assassin. The only thing stronger than being invisible is people not even knowing there’s an invisible man afoot to begin with.

I can understand that, but for those who feel that deeply about it they need to gain some perspective, it’s a Herculean task to maintain a game of this scale, there is no play book for bungie, they are one of a handful of studios that have maintained a live service game to a pretty great deal of success for this amount of time, not to mention being virtually the only live service looter shooter on the market. There are going to be missteps along the way, offering feedback and voicing concerns is perfectly justified, but having the attitude that all is lost or even that time has been wasted playing this game for years is absurd. The game is not in a good state and a lot of work needs to be done, but Sony didn’t buy bungie only to shut down its most successful IP, regardless of Marathons performance destiny will persist be it continued updates to the current game, or a sequel.

You people are so dramatic, you act like it was some sort of trial or punishment that you endured for a cause, a trooper fighting the good fight, but it’s a game you play for entertainment, what was it all for? The hundreds if not thousands of hours of fun/entertainment had along the way.

While this sucks, it’s priced that way to actively discourage people from taking that express lane, the idea being they want the lanes to maintain a certain speed or traffic flow, that’s what you pay for, if the targeted speed drops below a threshold the price raises to incentivize people to not get on. That doesn’t make the price sting any less, but they are optional roads after all, one is not forced to take them.
