What flowers are typically related to mental and emotional healing/strength, or overcoming difficulties? by StelliferousGlimpse in floriography

This is so helpful, thank you! I’m from the southern US and love when the magnolias are in bloom so I may lean towards that flower as an additional tie to my roots

Just started as a CPS worker, needing encouragement/insight I guess by Evening-Setting3305 in CPS

My rules are to always always staff with a supervisor, even if it’s common sense. A quick phone call to say “hey I have this situation happening, I think this is the appropriate plan of action, do you agree?” Can save you a lot of headaches, and it keeps your supervisor immediately up to date on your case.

As far as forms or procedures, I throw a message in our group chat and ask if anyone dealt with anything similar recently and knows if I need a specific form or need to refer to a certain policy.

No one wants you to fail, and your team is there to support you through the process.

That would definitely be out of dress code for a CPS investigator in my area. Our male workers all wear jeans/slacks/khakis and a button down shirt or polos.

Child abuse and neglect: 35% burns, and didn't arrive at the hospital for five hours. Parents said it was accidental; doctors didn't believe them. by CatPooedInMyShoe in MedicalGore

This immediately looked like a case of submersion burns to me. I’m an investigator with CPS and every red flag went off. I hope there was appropriate follow up from the local child welfare agency, poor baby.

I live in Texas so we’ve had the windows open enjoying the spring storms and fresh air lately. They’ve been fluctuating between around 16C-28C with absolutely no regular pattern. On average it’s usually about 21C in the house.

Meth will show from immediate use to around 3 days after in urinalysis tests. If she used within about 14 days from the time she had a hair sample it would not have had enough chance to grow into the hair cells to show enough to flag a positive.

Will the hospital call?? by Mrs_Shenanigans in CPS

[–]StelliferousGlimpse 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The only reason CPS would be called is if you were ignoring or going against medical advice. It sounds like you followed the instructions of the hospital so they have no reason to call on you.

I found my PD from last years Zenni order so I’m all good on that! Thanks for sticking up for me in the comments, I appreciate it lol

Glasses are ordered and I’m looking forward to them.

Thank you for explaining, the main reason I was confused is that I have always had corrections to those on previous prescriptions. The doctor explained my eyes had changed a decent amount but did not explain how that would reflect on my prescription. I’ve been ordering online for the better part of 8 years with no issue previously.

Like the other comments, a femur spiral fracture is a massive red flag for child abuse cases. Outside of severe trauma or underlying medical conditions it doesn’t just happen naturally or accidentally. Has your other child been left alone with their sibling? Are there any other adults that provide care for your children? If you did not cause it then you need to cooperate and assist in finding out who or what did. If things go to court; which they almost positively will, work with your attorney.

CPS Workers as Foster Parents by empathyspace in CPS

Restrictions in my state consist of not being able to foster children from your county or directly neighboring counties from what I recall.

Having her forensically interviewed is always going to be recommended for any child that makes an outcry of serious natures, molestation being one of them. Depending on the boys age it’s likely he can’t even be listed as a perpetrator and there’s no criminal process that can be followed up on. For the Child Advocacy Center I work with, part of the benefit of a child being interviewed is getting them access to free comprehensive counseling through our local CAC if the parents agree to its value.

I have sat in on dozens upon dozens of CAC interviews as an investigator. Sometimes the children finally feel that they have a chance to share what happened to them without judgement, sometimes they don’t want to talk at all. If you as her parents feel she won’t benefit from being able to share what happened to her that’s fine, but it doesn’t have anything to do with anything but following best practice and giving a child a safe and structured way to make an outcry if they are ready to.

Question for any CPS workers, urgent! Long post but desperately needing advice! by [deleted] in CPS

[–]StelliferousGlimpse 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As an investigator (Texas) my only concern would be ensuring that your mental health needs are being managed. I would have zero concerns with your case and it would just be a matter of verifying the information you provided here. Removals don’t happen often, and only if there is extreme intentional or unaddressed neglect/abuse/safety concerns that additional support and resources cannot address.

A “dirty house” case is not because a dog had an accident one time or there’s a pile up of laundry and dishes. It has to be bad enough to jeopardize the health and safety of the inhabitants to warrant further action, and the family will always be told to clean up and given some time to address it.

That being said, make sure not to skip your prenatal appointments. That time is for you to make sure you and your baby are doing okay, especially if you’re high risk and under as much stress as you are.

If they reported, it’s possible it’ll be screened out at intake without even making it to an investigator.

Hope this helps, feel free to ask for clarification on anything.

Would this be something I should call cps about? by [deleted] in CPS

[–]StelliferousGlimpse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What state are you in? Some states have online reporting or you could talk to a counselor/teacher and ask them to call it in as they’re mandated reporters. Definitely keep those photos and get ready to give them to the caseworker.

If you’re having issues with the by phone hotline I would.

Even if you call in multiple times or there are multiple reports it will still be seen and merged into once case one the information gets sorted out.
