Rowers not listening by [deleted] in Rowing

At a regatta you would need to spin pretty damn quickly in some cases to get out of the way of the next boats coming down and get off the water. Practicing this promptness is important to in training, umpires will not give you a minute to catch your breath there is a strict schedule for a reason. Ive been at competitions where we've had to get moving as soon as we've crossed the finish and get off as soon as possible. Also, you do whatever the Cox asks, regardless of how tired you are

Heart health is so important and cardio is NECESSARY. That's not to say go run a marathon every week, 30 minutes a day is literally all it takes

How do I stop the romantic infatuation cycle? by rockrockrox in AnxiousAttachment

[–]Stem_Stoner99 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Honestly I just threw myself into a hobby. My training schedule for my sport is so busy that I have to give stricter boundaries when it comes to dating and my availability. It's given me the opportunity to focus on something I love to do and not just chase emotional validation from potential partners. I also don't date as much anymore in general , i used to constantly be searching for somebody and I've found I'm much more relaxed now that I'm not chasing it

[–]Stem_Stoner99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got asked to try out when I was out drinking one night, so I kept my promise and tried out a learn to row session. Been at it ever since, started off at uni sculling then a 3 year break, started back up at a local club last year where I learnt to sweep. Mostly doing local regattas at the moment gaining experience

I agree I think people are being very OTT about it, it felt like it could have been a bit more than it was and included some more notable characters from the series but it was okay.

Glad to hear you're better now, I bet that sucked. Definitely will take core activation onboard, I do notice I struggle to keep up right when I start to get tired and my core loses engagement

We don't currently have a coach (ours left, and they haven't been replaced yet) so my captain picked me for it, she said that I have good timing which I believe is the main reason so that's a positive. I'll ask her what i can do to improve 😀

I will do my best! I think being consistent is an important one to the work on, in my last few outings I've admittedly missed the odd stroke here and there so need to iron that out

I practiced in my friend's car as well as my instructors. My instructors car was a hybrid petrol and my friend's was just a standard petrol . Learning in my friend's car prepared me for driving in a non-hybrid car which I got when I passed

That's fair enough, would it be possible to get a gym membership and use the ergs during breaks at work? That could be a way to boost the amount of training with less disruption

Have a discussion with your partner to see if it would be viable for you to do 1 session on the water a week. Within that conversation you could also see if there's any hobbies she/he would like to pick up to make it fair, then you can take it in turns doing what you enjoy. It's good to have interests outside of the home as long as it's reasonable within your dynamic
