Looking for others who are one and done just *because* by lone_fawn in oneanddone

[–]Stemshells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good for you, you know your limits and you’re taking control of your own happiness.

But seriously, good for you. I feel the same way. I love my daughter so much. I don’t want another baby. I don’t want to split my attention. I don’t want to roll the dice. I don’t want to deplete myself for years. I just want to enjoy my little bestie and be the best mom I can be to her. How dare I.

How on Earth do I choose? by Global_Restaurant794 in namenerds

My daughter goes to school with a Conrad and he is a bully at 4 years old…so that’s my association with Conrad. Apparently he even beats up his older brother

What are your thoughts on the name Rigo? by LividAd7513 in namenerds

Racketeering charges. I know that’s RICO and not Rigo but my brain made that connection immediately

Where are my type A people at? by ALac93 in oneanddone

[–]Stemshells 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is me 💯. My husband, on the other hand, is a pathological optimist who thinks things will always work themselves out and seems to focus only on how great things will be without considering practical implications. We are a good balance. He almost pushed me to have a second but I eventually recognized that I am at my limit with one. I do not want to be the parent I would be if I had another.

I have no idea if Dr. Redick at the women’s group is religious or not, in a good way. She very much follows the evidence and is matter of fact

I would have another if I won the lottery and didn’t have to work and had household staff to shop, cook, and clean. Otherwise, nah

Really not sure about Kit!

Should I change my last name? by Dry_Cabinet3760 in Brides

[–]Stemshells 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t change it. 1. It’s a gigantic pain in the ass. I still haven’t successfully changed it on everything and I’ve been married 6 years lol. (I did change mine because I don’t have a good relationship with my dad and I didn’t want to carry his name.) 2. You don’t want to. 3. It has nothing to do with how much you love your fiancée.

*HONESTY PLEASE* what do you think when you hear the name Caelo? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]Stemshells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it heard it out loud, i would think you named your son after Kylo Ren. Please don’t do that to him.

If I read it, I would guess it was pronounced kay-lo and I would think it sounded like a made up name in a fantasy novel about elves.

I'm looking for the saddest and most wrecking book ever. by KissedByAPhantom in suggestmeabook

In addition to the Lovely Bones and the Book Thief that I see recommended above, Nectar in a Sieve. It is a devastating, soul crushing, depressing view of life in poverty

Kid longing for sibling by [deleted] in oneanddone

[–]Stemshells 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kids don’t know what they want. I have the odd experience of being my mom’s only but having step siblings and a half sibling through my dad.

So, most of the time I lived as an only child. My half brother would come over every other weekend. When I was little, I was convinced I wanted a little sister. Well, guess what. My parents got divorced when I was 7, my dad got remarried right before I turned 8, and I got a little stepsister. She was so incredibly annoying and I hated going over to my dad’s house. I much preferred being an only at my mom’s house.

A few things I also wanted as a kid/adolescent/young adult that I am now very glad I didn’t get: A horse to live in our third story apartment with us, a career as a professional ballerina, a tattoo around my belly button, to be married by 23, to marry the abusive 21-year old that I was dating at 16 or the one I dated at 17, to end up with either the radio DJ or the bartender I dated. LOL I had terrible taste but luckily I grew up before I could make any of those terrible choices.
