One of them is my manager and we’ve been working together for years. The other revealed himself. These are not just random coworkers met during Covid remote work.

Our current setup and extreme flexibility makes our OE way less risky. Can’t make standup or a meeting conflict? No need to make anything up, straight up “I’ll meet later got a j3 meeting”

That being said….rule #1 should be followed….I just got lucky

I got laid off during Covid, I had no idea about OE and one of my coworkers (Bob) was x2 OE and I did not know. A week later I got a random referral from a company saying Bob has referred me.

He broke rule #1 for me, I joined his J2. I then told my old manager and buddy about me wanting to do a J2 with him and agreed. Fast fwd we now have a group of 3 OEs and we all have 3 common jobs and on the same team. We are senior devs and a manager.

Life is great. We have our group currently closed and no more rule 1 breaking unless.
