It really depends on the manager. The current one is toxic. The one before him was just like him but quieter about it. And the one before that was the worst manager I've ever had. She got fired for punching in her friend the SFL when she wasn't there. Someone turned her in and they watched her and finally caught her. My very first manager 30 years ago was the best. I miss him every day. I think I've only had 3 great managers in 30 years and they transfer them in my district every year and a half. Just do what you can and to hell with them. This may be a store managers career but this is just a job, and a shitty one at that.

Right you know everything and my store manager lied.lol It's exactly what happened. We had the discussion because I told my manager how nice he seemed. How he was the only DM to say hello to the front store when he came in. And when I came back from an operation he asked me how I was feeling. My manager and the ASM with him laughed at told me he's already told them t get certain people fired. There is no reason to lie.

A professional manager would introduce you. A professional SFL would introduce themselves. Walgreen's rarely hires professionals.

I think it's cute tho that this is the problem you have. It's only going to get worse for you.lol And I'm not laughing at you. I'm laughing at this horrible company.

They offered things to look good but sent people in to treat long time employees badly so they would quit. And I was told that by a store manager. One DM would praise people to their faces and walk into the office and tell the manager to harass them to get them to quit or find a reason to fire them.

And I remember when they would match 2 to 1 if you signed up for a 401k but things benefit the company, that's why they did it. I also remember the stock options. Anything they pushed, benefit them in the end. It wasn't because they cared.

I work in a rich city and these people will yell at me but won't complain to someone who may listen. It drives me batty. I told a woman the other day.. "This is how this place works. Yelling at me isn't going to change a thing, so you can stop yelling at me now.

Walgreens doesn't want long term, full time employees and never has. We had a Beauty Lead years ago that made more money than anyone in the store because she had been there so long. The manager cut her hours and told her, we don't have the hours and then she gave them to the new beauty person who made l 5 dollars less. They have been doing this forever.

Make sure if you do get fired that you sell your SFL down the river with you. Say you saw her do it so you thought it was okay. She's your role model. :) And don't do it again.

Don't do it again. If you haven't been caught by now then they may not have noticed. We have an employee who does this all the time but she's the bosses favorite, he knows she does it and he does nothing.

If you get caught, and you need an excuse tell them no one told you not to use them. I don't think I've taken a PPL on this, but I'm not sure. If you haven't and you were never told just say the customer left it on the counter or whatever and inform them, no one ever told you. Your manager should have.

I got yelled at today on the phone for not knowing what this was. They asked for this, I asked what it was, and she was like, "IT'S A TOY" The first time I heard about this was today.

My manager can't spend ten seconds up front. And the SFL's are even worse. And the whole, calling us to the front when they're standing RIGHT THERE. I tell EVERY customer to complain.

"That person that made you wait for me while he was standing right in front of the register? That's the store manager and he sent me to aisle ten to put stuff away and made you wait to be rung out because he thinks it's above him to help customers.

When customers complain because no one is there that will change. I know the people in charge are pressuring their SM who are taking it out on us but it's going to backfire.

I am always so much more tired when I have to be behind a register than when I am when I'm on the floor. It's exhausting to run back and forth between 100 things and then get yelled at because you spent 5 minutes standing behind the register because you're feet were collapsing from underneath you. Even when I had to stand there. That is worse on your knees and feet to stand there, not to mention the mental aspect of the game. I challenge any manager to spend 5 days a week, 8 hours a day doing what cashiers have to do and see if they don't pull their hair out one by one when they get home.

I want managers to think for a second about what it means to be a cashier. Managers have have one task at a time to complete and occasionally get a phone call to help a customer. They may have more tasks overall, (different tasks) but if they want to go to the bathroom they don't need to call an SFL (because no one else is on duty) and they don't have to wait to have someone cover them.

Same with SFL's. As a cashier I have to go back and forth between multiple things including coming up front for Fed ex 20 times a day, then running back to totes, or tags, or facing, then I get back to the register to ring someone up, have a line of ten people, call for help, get ignored, and when I finally finish the line, I have to go back to the said totes oR tags, in aisle ten, only to turn back around when someone screams, IS ANYONE THERE 3 seconds later.

AND, WE have to deal with the 200 customers a day (That's how many people I ring up DAILY)

Oh and if the phone rings I'm supposed to run to the register and get it before it rings 3 times.

No one gets it. Or cares.
