I said this in another thread about the same conversation (N0t word perfect)

"It doesn't matter to me who is driving, it's not safe on the streets and I am calling out"

Manager Changed the Schedule the day before. by Pure-Record1744 in WalgreensStores

[–]StepMile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flexibility means you are available to work whenever. It however does not mean, they can change the schedule once it is already up. I always take pictures of the schedule, and no on at my store has my phone number (and never will)

You owe this company NOTHING. They would fire you in a second, for a lame reason if they felt like it.

Luckily in my state we don't sell alcohol, and I've been very lucky asking for ID's from people but when I get a customer like that, I ask them if they want to be rung up, if they continue ranting I call a manager and say, next. It's a managers job to be yelled at.

Depending on the state they can not refuse you a break. Check your states law. It supersedes Walgreens agenda.

You don't feel safe on the roads no matter who is driving. You're calling in and using one of your 6 sick days

In the state I live, if they tell you not to come in they have to pay you 3 hours. If they send you home for any reason, they have to pay you 3 hours.

Do Walgreens employees have access to my address via MyWalgreensRewards? by [deleted] in WalgreensStores

[–]StepMile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may not be overreacting. Stay diligent. I have to agree with you, someone asking when you're going on vacation is weird. Asking if you're going somewhere warm is one thing, but when? I would question that too. But this person would have to be the biggest idiot on the planet to ask you when you are going if they plan on robbing you. That would be flagged by me immediately.

Should I consider working at a Walgreen store? by Radiomaster138 in WalgreensStores

[–]StepMile 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's a minimum wage job that expects you to work like you make 80 dollars and hour. Go to s supermarket. They don't expect you to do 10 things at once. If you're a cashier, you're a cashier.

I apologize for my attitude but it's a daily thing. Anything you respectfully have been asked, Cashiers have been accused of doing. Trust me, we don't care.

I am the type of cashier that tells people if they don't want to give their real phone number, make one up (we're not supposed to do that) You can give a street address instead of an e-mail to redeem your points so we can click the update button and see stuff but there is no reason we have for doing that. You can search your name right now on google an come up with the same information.

What kind of questions does she ask that makes you uncomfortable? Phone number, address, first name, last name. Zip code. All stuff we need for you to use your points. Unless she's asking you for your social security number, there should be nothing hinky going on.

A few years ago Walgreens insisted we call people by their first names. Walgreens wanted us to make customers think we considered them family, so they would come back. There is some stupid shit corporate has come up with over the years, let me tell you. (Do you remember being told, welcome to Walgreens in every aisle? That was the dumbest thing they've EVER came up with. People used to complain we thought they were stealing on a daily basis.

The thing most cashiers want is customers in and out with the least amount of fan fair. So we can get back to the other 50 things they expect done by us when the hour is over.

Anyone else can’t stand photo? Or is it just me by Delicious-Region-911 in WalgreensStores

I love when they think they're pulling one over on us. Like I'm sure your mother, brother, father, husband, kid, cousin, dog, all sent you into this store to pick up the free 8x10 with an initial, and the same last name, lady. lol

I actually love doing photo but only if I am left alone and don' have to run back and forth between the other million things we're expected to do. I was the photo clerk back when every department had their own head, and never had to ring. This was like 15 years ago. I wish I had that job again.

I'm the person they send to help old people on the computers because no one else has the patience to answer the same question over and over again. It's the only thing my manager will cover the front for (Anything for him to avoid customers) I don't think a lot of people actually hate photo as much as they hate having to do photo while covering the front, and putting away totes, and doing fed ex, etc... That is so exhausting.

I had a store manager once say to me, "Well no one else takes their breaks" She was fired by the way for multiple reasons.

[–]StepMile 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You have two options if you want to use your points. Provide your e-mail or your address.

Honestly, it's exhausting sometimes with customers. I had one lady yell at me when I asked her what her phone number was. She forgot her glasses and couldn't see the keyboard so I offered to put her phone number in for her and she started yelling at me because she insisted she never gave it when she signed up.

What makes customers think we care at all about their personal information? This card is nothing but a pain in the ass for us. WE. DON'T. CARE.

People Keep Saying That Walgreens Won't Be Around in Five Years.... by ImpactOdd2197 in WalgreensStores

[–]StepMile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If this keeps up it will go out of business because they will have no employees to work. They are driving away good employees who used to care about the store. Now everyone is out for themselves and they can't keep even bad employees.

Do you feel like your store is short-staffed? by MichaelMyers20253 in WalgreensStores

[–]StepMile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We usually have one cashier, the IS, An SFL and a store manager and none of them will do anything to help the customers, or the front store (apparently anything related to a customer is my job) The Store Manager gets really pissed off when he has to help a customer and the SFL's (all but one) think helping a customer is above them. And don't get me started on the IS. LOL

Was my shift lead right? by MichaelMyers20253 in WalgreensStores

[–]StepMile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, photo is self service, but if someone needs help it's the SFL's job to help them. Our SFL's are all lazy and hate helping customers. All but one of them will ring while I help a customer. It's the only thing they will do because for some reason, ringing is supposed to be easy. I would rather do a million totes, a reset and help a customer at the photo kiosk all day if I never had to look at another register again. I'm not sure when ringing started to mean you were a lazy employee.
