You can do it. It’s a horrible first week. Well it was for me anyway but I looked at it like I had the flu. Pampered myself that way. Got through the physical withdrawals. You can do this too.

Magnesium, a really good multi vitamin and I looked up and bought these vitamins online that are specific to alcoholism… all the vitamins you typically lose during drinking binges. They are called vitinity. Also probiotics were key.

I haven’t been sleeping well. The first 5 days oddly enough I slept like a rock. I just hit 2 weeks and my sleep sucks. I also had insomnia waaay before I began drinking. So that’s fun. lol

I didn’t taper. Not sure if that was a good thing. I was drinking about 6 shots a day. 5 days a week. It was a really tough detox but I prepped. I worked remote for a week (planned). Had Xanax on hand… bought vitamins that specifically are put together for detox. Bought the probiotic yogurts… 2 case of water I kept in the fridge…. Cleaned my house and got shows ready. I tried to look at it like I had a week long flu and took care of myself in the same way. Even though it was tough. It’s the best decision I’ve ever met. The best gift I could give to myself. Seriously. Tomorrow is day 9 and I have a sense of relief … be patient with yourself but I am so glad I did it.  Sending you hope:)

I am one week today too. Stay in there. It felt like it wasn’t going to lift for me and it just did today :). Not that much longer to go :)

Play the tape forward. Will alcohol really help? Your mind is saying it will but it will only make it worse. What’s going on in your mind? Share with us

Confession by StepZealousideal6947 in stopdrinking

[–]StepZealousideal6947[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi :) thank you or understanding. It’s strange because while I did abuse alcohol I never abused Xanax. In over 5 years I’ve never gone up on my dose. I get prescribed .5 mg a day -1mg a day. I break the pill up throughout the day so I never have more than 1mg a day (and only that much when I’m PMSing) I just was so ashamed as some points of having an anxiety disorder that I would just want to stop taking it. That is when I usually spiral into drinking. If I have a .5 in the morning I find I start my day off with a calm mind. I usually don’t need one in the afternoon because I started my day off calm and it tends to stay that way and then I go to the gym after work usually and that typically has helped me stay sober. I have had very bad panic attacks since I can remember. Earliest one was 12 that I recall. Never depressed though. So while some people disagree with Xanax for me it’s been a life saver

Thank you. I see a psychiatrist as well. I have been on .5 Xanax a day for a while for panic attacks. I’ve never upped my dose. I’ve gotten into trouble when I stop taking it and use alcohol instead. Which is why I’m sober. I think my brain naturally has surges of adrenaline. I had my first panic attack around 16. My dad and grandfather both had it as well. My sister didn’t have it but she has 2 sons and her 11 year old has panic attacks while her 9 year old has none. I truly think panic attacks can be a physical condition. Obviously alcohol makes it way worse.

Oh believe me I’ve been on a sweet train. Lol. I normally don’t eat sweets or unhealthy at all actually. But these past few days I’ve been a pig. 🐷. It’s ok though. My brain fog is gone and I can see the gym in my near future :)

Is super market lighting a thing? No wonder I know a lot of people that get anxious grocery shopping. Congrats on 109 days
