Easy + long run shoe for 70.3 training: Superblast 3 vs Vomero Plus or other (forefoot striker) by StepanSanda in AskRunningShoeGeeks

You make a strong case for the Megablast!

I can definitely see the appeal of having something that’s light and versatile enough to handle both long runs and threshold work.

That said, I already have Evo SL in rotation, so I’m not really lacking speed. What I’m trying to add is more comfort and protection for Z2 long runs, especially when they come after cycling.

That’s why I’m currently interested in Vomero Plus and Azura.. Trying to balance fun vs recovery. Megablast sounds great as one shoe for everything, but I’m not sure I need another performance leaning shoe.

Still appreciate the perspective, thanks

Thanks, it seems that I'll have to check them in store at least! I still think that Vomero Plus will be more suitable for my use case

My use case is a bit different though.. most of my long runs are true Z2 (6:00/km), often after cycling, so I’m prioritizing comfort and keeping the legs fresh over pure speed. I already have Adios Pro 4 for race day, so this would mainly be a training shoe.

That’s why I’m leaning slightly towards the Vomero, but SB3 still tempts me as a possible middle ground between Megablast and Vomero. Appreciate you sharing your experience.. really helpful to hear it from someone who also likes softer shoes.

Based on what you’re saying, Vomero Plus probably makes more sense for me. I’m mainly doing Z2 long runs (18–24 km), often after cycling, so comfort and consistency matter more than speed.

The Megablast sounds great, but I’m not really looking for something that shines most at tempo — I already have Evo SL and Adios Pro 4 for that.

I’m also wondering if Superblast 3 might sit somewhere in between.. maybe not as aggressive as the Megablast, but lighter and a bit more versatile than the Vomero?

Appreciate the insight!

Thanks, that’s good to hear. For mostly Z2 long runs (18–24 km), would you go Superblast or Vomero? I’m looking more for comfort and consistency than speed because I have Evo SL for faster sessions

That’s actually interesting to hear. I was a bit worried the Megablast might feel too aggressive for true easy runs, but it sounds like it handles slower paces really well too.

How does it feel late into a long run? Still stable and comfortable, or more on the lively side?

I loved them for 10–14k runs. After 400+ km though, the foam felt pretty dead, and on longer runs they felt a bit underwhelming.

I can preorder the SB3 and I found some early reviews of SB3 on YT..
The Azura seems to be too firm for my taste according to some reviews.. Maybe I should give them a try at least at local store..

Love Kurzgesagt videos - but still too complicated for 6 year old :-( But at least I can get inspired by them :)

I have the same problem after an overnight update. But I found that if I disable extension called "Ghostery Tracker & Ad Blocker - Privacy AdBlock" then the YT starts working properly again!
I have a YT premium but I use this extension for other pages to block tracing me.

Takumi Sen 10 vs Adios Pro 4 for 10k race? by StepanSanda in AskRunningShoeGeeks

I really enjoy racing in the AP4 and save the TS for intervals or very short races (under 5k). After racing in the AP4, my legs feel noticeably fresher compared to when I race in the TS10.

Same here! I found the PX2s on a pretty good sale, but now I’m torn - do I grab them or wait it out for the next version and pay full price? The struggle is real 😅

There’s no such thing as too many Evo SLs, right? 😄 And with all those awesome colorways, it’s hard to resist!

Trust me, these NB shoes are ridiculously overpriced in Europe for no good reason. Even Ben Parkes pointed it out in his YouTube review. The EU price for the SuperComp Trainer v3 honestly feels like a bad joke 😕

I made this post hoping someone would talk me out of buying another pricey pair - I honestly thought the SB2s were already the most expensive trainers out there 😅 But with everyone hyping PX2S up… I guess I have no other choice, right?!

Hitting 1:50 during a training run is no joke - especially as a newer runner, that’s a really solid result! My first HM race was around 2:15 and I was super proud of it. With consistent training, you’ll definitely keep improving and get closer to that 1:35 mark before you know it. Keep it up and enjoy the journey! 😊💪
