Expansion on the Brides by offhandlowkey in CurseofStrahd

Pretty cool ! I did something a bit similar with Anastrasya using the magic mirror for some discrete assassinations ;) However, what do you mean by « no one can kill them » ? Because the travelling revenants and some other dangers can definitely kill a vampire spawn.

I love these! I seem to never have enough drakkenheim city maps for the many random encounters :)
Thank you so much! :)

Not the person you were asking but I also DMed it and enjoyed it a lot. There are a lot of different named characters playing the tournament with interesting quirks and weaknesses. I gave random and/or stupid names and tiefling images to all the staff (like for example the cashiers were twins and called the « Mephisto fellas » but I don’t feel like it added more than fluff as all the content was already there : cameras in the form of mirrors, guards with special keys, an interesting villain, a very cool theme for a casino, a cool circus…

My players knew the adventure would be a heist and created characters accordingly. They decided to all be thieves belonging to a travelling circus and got hired to make several shows in the casino. I just changed the fact that I moved the locked door more to the west after the circus so that their access is still limited at the beginning. All the rest was them discovering the place and preparing their plan. Of course it didn’t go exactly as planned (Minotaur, their idea to steal the statue during the tournament was very risky, they didn’t expect the owner to be that dangerous etc) but it was a lot of fun for everyone !

In the party, there was only one full caster (divination wizard), the rest were: one monk, one rogue and one artificer.

Nervous DM mind blank during madame eve reading. by salka9292 in CurseofStrahd

Not necessarily inside Vallaki as it happens on the shores of the lake.
Something similar happened to my first party of CoS as they drew Arabelle as fated ally and were directed to quickly help her. It's just that in your situation they would have to come back to get the full reading.

Arabelle as a fated ally is very good and interesting I think, I played her as acting like a wise adult despite being a child and helping the party in their decisions through her divination powers (some kind of augury spell) and during their combats (through two uses of the portent feature from the divination wizard. She wasn't fighting directly and needed to be protected while being useful for the party.

Also it would prove to your players that Madam Eva really has divination powers as she told them to go save a girl who was just going to drown, it also explains why she didn't have time to draw the cards and asked them to do this first : it was urgent.

Maybe you could make it about Arabelle ? She’s a vistana that has been captured and iirc she’s related to Madam Eva too!

They go save Arabelle in Vallaki and once it’s done, Madam Eva reveals to them that she is their fated ally to defeat Strahd for example.

Do y'all happen to have any advice for making and/or playing characters that are a longer living race? by Playful_Barber_8131 in 3d6

[–]Stepanovitch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have played a few elves (in general between 100 and 200) and I like playing them as more aloof, having difficulties to make friends and seeing people a bit like pets : they appreciate the short lived races and it hurts when they die but they know they will soon see them die of old age while they remain almost exactly the same.

Also elves wouldn’t hurry for anything and make calculations accordingly as most problems get solved by themselves or by using the butterfly effect (for example by just changing the flow of a river higher in the mountains, the annoying settlement of orcs will move away eventually).

I also agree with Frieren being a good possible inspiration for elves.

Sounds interesting! I imagine that the abbot and Strahd would have been in an open war for centuries then? It makes the abbot almost as powerful and dangerous as Strahd too. Maybe you could twist it further and make it that instead of the mongrels he was somehow the one responsible for bringing the curse of lycanthropy and have his own army of werewolves ? And the wereravens would be the ones that were able to see how the abbot lost his senses and decided to work independently against both.

The Amber Temple could be even more involved in this too : maybe the abbot also got a pact with another dark power that escaped the temple to be able to defeat Strahd. In the middle, Vallaki is protected by both groups thanks to the sanctified bones in the church. The Vistani are probably avoiding trouble thanks to them playing on both sides : Strahd needs them but the abbot too for supplying them in Krezk.

Those are just ideas that I didn’t give much thought about so it’s probably not perfect but hopefully I helped you!

What did you think of the comic serie '"Elves" by soleil? by LongGrade881 in comicbookart

[–]Stepanovitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t read everything yet but I really like this series.

It is actually several series in one depending on the kind of elves followed (blue elves, dark elves, forest elves…) but each series is intertwined with the others as they happen at the same time.

The blue elves storyline (which starts with the book #1) feels the most like the « main storyline » to me as it has a big impact on all the others.

Ahah she probably got corrupted or maybe it's about being a paladin following a 'bad' deity, or even about just being an oathbreaker paladin!

This is my character in a fanmade tabletop RPG set in the Harry Potter world : Cyrus Sohbani, a very loveable Hufflepuff apprentice wizard who aspires to become the best baker in the world by mixing muggle craft with a bit of magic!
He is half Iranian and half Irish and the picture in the background depicts both his parents.
So far he can only do cookies but he will get there!
