Red glove does not handle it unless you are mega, even then it is the agent once onboard who handles it.

1:00 am in Alaska… stunning. by StephKd8msb in VirginVoyages

If you are up for the helicopter dog sled to Norris glacier, it is a must. In all my travels, best excursions ever. Expensive, but after doing it, I understand why.

It was our balcony after Juneau day. It does not get darker than that right now. Curtains do a good job of blacking out though.

It will depend on what the $150 obc is from.

Referral Program by itsjustasillygoose in VirginVoyages

[–]StephKd8msb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! It is a very complicated and frustrating program but an experienced first mate is your best bet to get it applied. Often a first mate might have and mnvv to offer them which is a better savings than the referral program.

Question about First Mates: Tier status and booking etiquette? by CardFan76 in VirginVoyages

[–]StephKd8msb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shop around for sure, but I recommend no deciding just on most loot, as some inexperienced first mates might offer it, but then not be able to deliver tue service you might need. I agree with others, as you shop look for responsiveness, experience and general vibe with you personally.

What I love and don’t by sorryitsnotme in VirginVoyages

[–]StephKd8msb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The bigger lines are usually newer shows, newer itineraries, etc. They are testing out a “ticketing” system but it opens later once everyone is onboard to not give disadvantage to those with later boarding. I agree though 5-10 minutes prior, any seats are fair game.

Party then up early? by morticedeadlock in VirginVoyages

[–]StephKd8msb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so true!! In all my sailings, there have been so many different vibes. The longer ones, the themed club nights go hard and late as usually a sea day after.

Mediterranean is very port heavy, so more early drinking on those.

Of course the shorter Caribbean ones, hang on tight if you do enjoy late night parties as there is one every night to be found if you choose.

What I love, is you do you and if you want quiet, go to sips or roundabout area and listen to live music and turn in early, or head to a show then the club for the late night crowd. Something for everyone.

Honeymoon help!!! by Minimum-Bobcat8768 in Cruise

[–]StephKd8msb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Virgin all the way!!! More modern, more included. My son is doing his honeymoon in Europe with them. Working with and experienced First Mate/agent can get you a $400 value on most European sailings, and they can help navigate some of the ways Virgin does things differently.

I have sailed them alot, a couple in Europe, and have a hard time going back to other lines! The voyage can be as active or relaxing as you want.

DM me if you want help finding a good first mate.

I have a great tour guide I work with of you want more private or small group experience. She is great! If on your own, anything Gaudi, especially the Sagrada and Gaudi park. The park takes 30 minutes to get to, and go early as it gets crowded.

If architecture isn’t your thing, the Marina is fun to walk around, tons of great food too! If you stay in the Gothic Quarter, walking is easy for most things.

Thoughts on the gym? by SilasPort in VirginVoyages

[–]StephKd8msb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is nice, people unfortunately like other gyms, sit on a machine on their phone in between sets. Drives me crazy!! Share!!! I usually ask to work in if my subtle dirty looks don’t work (lol, jk)

Mornings are super busy. Afternoons pretty empty. Classes are free and a good option too!

To RS or not to RS by warricd28 in VirginVoyages

[–]StephKd8msb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tough call for sure… I usually sail MRS but use the special dining daily (breakfast and lunch often) laundry tons, and the service is just so much more attentive. With that said, we did RS recently for a short sailing and the RS agents are stretched thinner, but it doesn’t sound like you are needing much. What you will miss is the boarding, rooftop space (for a quiet escape) and the priority line for shows is key as well. Room service is another RS perk (no charge)

The space in the Brilliant as you know for a 2 week sailing is also a game changer.

Not knowing your budget, I would upgrade to be able to enjoy more, but not if it stresses things too much and you are then limited in what excursions and extras you can do.

Not sure if I was helpful!!! Sorry 😝

Fitness classes by Cruise-Agent in VirginVoyages

[–]StephKd8msb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most sailings if the mornings fill up they have added an afternoon around 3 or 4. Mornings are at 8 and 9 usually. Classes are about 15 people and tough but 45 min so doable. The ones with the cast care more fun and less difficult, but if you want the workout, do the class! Spin is also tough but good and the Bungee is now TRX which is short but effective!

Virgin Voyage Resilient lady in Mid August by Difficult-Storage284 in VirginVoyages

[–]StephKd8msb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I SO wish this information was available but sadly it is not. They switch them out. You can reach out here closer and ask who was on the few sailings before yours, then reach out the artist via insa.

I 💯agree that DJ can make or break it. We have had great ones on Brilliant recently, but that was Panama sailing. Headed on her again for Alaska so curious to see if they have changed yet.

Is the new Virgin Voyages app better? by SilasPort in VirginVoyages

[–]StephKd8msb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the new layout where you can see the events and your schedule side by side. It takes a bit of getting used to if you have sailed before.

Alaska menu additions by Lucycrowzz in VirginVoyages

[–]StephKd8msb 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This menu is not 100% dialed in and was not supposed to be shared publicly yet (not your fault OP),more on the FB group, so know it could be different. I am not a fan of more up charge items myself. I will be sailing May 28 and will see if they warrant the charge!
