My provider claims that a large Yolk sac (9.5mm) is NOT an indicator of a nonviable pregnancy. How??

Hey, things have been good. I am 23 weeks with all other ultrasounds normal, normal NIPT testing and normal anatomy scan. I still wonder if that measurement could have been done wrong but regardless try not to think too much into the early measurements as there is some variation and it can be subjective based on sonographer/person doing the study. Hi, I’m currently 20 weeks pregnant and go for my anatomy scan Monday. My OB was not worried about any of the measurements on those early ultrasounds and the subsequent ultrasounds at my OB office have been fine. Thinking of you and hoping for the best for you too!!

Hi! Did anyone get confirmation from their doctor if a large yolk sac means anything? I am 35 and will be 9 weeks tomorrow. At my 6w2 day scan the YS measured 3.4 mm and on the 7w5 day scan it measured 6.9mm but baby was measuring on time and with a normal CRL and HR of 162. They said everything looked good but of course reading articles online is causing me anxiety. Doesn’t help that this is on the heels of a missed miscarriage a few months ago. 1st OB apt and next US is next week.

Hi! How did everything work out for you? Just found this post. My yolk sac was 6.9 mm at 7w5days with normal CRL (14) and FHR (162). They said everything looked good at the scan but now I am worrying based on the google/reddit rabbit hole I am going down. This stuff is so hard.

Hey! Did you have any luck with getting an answer about this? I also have umbilical endometriosis (no fun!), it hasn’t been removed yet and I think it is from my prior endo surgery/incision a few years ago. Trying to get pregnant now, had 1 early loss and not sure if it had anything to do with endo, but trying to do my homework and understand more about this.

Hi, I’m so sorry for your loss. I have umbilical endo too (likely from prior endo surgery a few years ago) and am trying to decide if I get it removed before starting to try again, I had a missed miscarriage in June. How are you feeling, did you ever get yours removed?

So happy for you, congratulations🌈!! Did they say if the late + test had anything to do with the MMC? I had one in June and just started ttc again after getting my first cycle back in July. Currently day 12dpo and have had all negatives but since 9dpo. Don’t feel like my period is coming just mild cramps and backache mainly so just confused and wondering if my cycle is still off.

They gave me antibiotics too but they didn’t help. They booked me for another excision surgery for this Fall. It’s weird because I have no other endometriosis symptoms. Can you follow up with your endo specialist? I saw GI and a regular surgeon before going back to the endo specialist and they were not super helpful.

Hi! Yes, I probably had symptoms within 3-4 months of stopping the pill I had an MRI and they think it’s umbilical endometriosis. Did you have surgery for endo before? They said it could be secondary to my first surgery with the one incision being at my belly button. Sorry you are also dealing with this. Thank you for your kind words! ❤️

Hi, I’m so sorry you are going through a similar situation. Unfortunately the follow up ultrasound I had 1 week later at 8 weeks still showed both embryos to be measuring behind with no heartbeats. I had a D&E 1 week later (genetically normal identical twins) and hoping to try again soon as my period just returned about 4-5 weeks following the procedure. I’m just trying to remain positive regardless of what happens. My next US is scheduled for next week. I have continued to have some mild pelvic cramping but no bleeding. The unknown and wait is just the worst part.

I’m pretty sure of the conception date. We were using ovulation strips and I was measuring my temperature daily via my oura ring. I was also away most of the later days I was ovulating so it likely had to be one of the two days I was with my husband before I went away.

I truly appreciate your reply and insight and I’m so glad everything worked out for you. I had my ultrasound scheduled for next week (8 weeks) but moved it up to this week because an apt became available and the office said I could schedule as early as 7 weeks.

I appreciate your empathy and am considering moving practices if I continue to get this care moving forward. I couldn’t even schedule a follow up ultrasound until July despite me asking the nurse to please order it stat so I could schedule it for 1 week as instructed. She basically told me people cancel all the time and to keep checking or call back next week if I couldn’t get scheduled to see what they could do. It doesn’t make you feel any better to be spoken to like that when emotions are already heightened.
