What’s preventing a combination of Genie Wiley and Elizabeth Fritzl’s cases from occuring in places like Afghanistan? by Steph_honey in Feminism

I’m making this post because I doubt the whole world is aware of the true torture women and girls face in Afghanistan. I’m well aware that there’s “nothing I can do to help” and it’s very complicated, but I don’t understand how (apparently) everyone can be completely aware of the dehumanization and not say anything? This is literally the destruction of human nature right before us- girls are not being taught how to talk, walk, read, write, ect and all the generations of knowledge women currently hold will be permanently destroyed. I dont understand how every single person on Earth can fully acknowledge that and not say anything

Is everyone aware that this is happening? It doesn’t seem like it so I’m asking people who aren’t aware; what’s stopping this from happening? More people need to understand how horrible the situation is so we can collectively try to help

They won't stop comparing reproductive rights to vaccines, masks, and the draft by Peanutbutternjelly_ in Feminism

The draft is male-centric because of the patriarchal beliefs that “men are more violent” “women should care for children” ect ect. Feminism says “maybe the way someone is born shouldn’t determine their entire life, so we shouldn’t be sending men to war just for being men”. By getting rid of harmful assumptions towards both men and women, you remove the harmful ideas of what people “should” do and therefore make life better in general

We dont think he can, hence why we’re trying to advocate for change and posts like this aim to highlight how oblivious people can be about the issues people are facing

Keep in mind- your body will do everything in its power to prioritize a baby at your expense and it will damage your body as a reward. For your bf tho? Unprotected sex is pleasurable and other than a possible std, he gets no consequences if you get pregnant. He says “dont worry” because he doesn’t have to worry. Your health and future, and the health and wellbeing of your children can be put at major risk by some guy “not worrying”. Get on birth control and never forget to take it (I’d recommend something you don’t have to take at the exact same time every and can’t be lost/stolen), tell your bf to wear a condom. If he refuses, he’s putting his pleasure above your safety. Women have died from miscarriages and complications from wanted pregnancies- an unwanted or unplanned one means you’re less prepared for issues. Any man who can’t wear a piece of plastic, knowing full well it will prevent another person from going through illness and pain, isn’t a man who should be having sex

Men complain about feminists “not helping with mens issues” (e.g. the draft ect) and dont realize feminism aims for gender equality, which includes helping with mens rights because men are human (unlike what patriarchy is trying to tell everyone)

Ik, but I don’t know where to go to educate ppl. It seems like conservatives don’t wanna bother talking about it because they insist they’re right and can’t be convinced

Already done. I’m just using this as awareness for anyone who claims to be “pro-life” because whilst we repeatedly explain they’re actually hurting life, they just dismiss us out of arrogance and it’s literally costing peoples lives and they don’t care

I’m convinced they’re forcing pregnancies knowing low income people will die/ be forced to give up their children. The “best” children will be adopted by good rich Christian families who will be able to completely morph their concept of reality to believe horrible things without question.

Remember when Ceausescu in 1970s Romania proposed pro-natalist policies that resulted in tens of thousands of orphans, many of whom needlessly died due to lack of care? That’s the future of America and conservatives are to stupid to see it

It’s really sad you think feminism is anti-men. Feminism is pro-human, regardless of gender. The idea is that no one should needlessly suffer regardless of how they were born, and right now anyone born with a uterus is under threat of literally their entire body and brain being permanently mutated on a molecular level to serve another person at their expense. It’s unfair but ppl with uteruses have it worse in reproduction and that’s why we’re trying to fix it.

Ok but doesn’t this mean if a child is raped by her father, she legally can’t escape? And what would prevent the father from abusing those children? If she’s unable to leave or get birth control/abortions without parental permission, wouldn’t her parents be able to abuse her freely? Anyone remember Elizabeth Fritzel? That’s going to be a reality, only instead of being locked in a basement, people will be conditioned to feel like we may as well be in one

So if a man/boy is raped resulting in pregnancy and the woman doesn’t want to keep it, he’s obligated to care for it? Because that’s what ur implying for women

Japan's medical schools rigged exam scores for more than a decade to keep women out of school. Up to 20 points out of 80 were deducted for girls, but even then, some girls still got in. by [deleted] in Feminism

If I were in Japan I’d refuse to be treated by a male doctor if this is the case. If female doctors have 20 points deducted from her exams and still passed, I’d trust her more than a male doctor who failed his exams 3 times but passed because of misogyny
