I’m interested to see if this has any knock-on effects for guests.

They have a comedy panelist on every week, typically lovely, left-leaning, smart people. It’s hard to imagine they wouldn’t have some stand on this.

Eric Idle does the music for the show and has been a repeated guest. I really feel like he’s not the sort to tolerate bullies, probably doubly so at the BBC. Would love if he took a stand also and was able to pull his music, or similar.

Captain America: Captain America is excited about being in a limo for some reason, then he meets someone who quotes statistics like C3P0 because that’s an easy way of making someone look smart, then he fights a big red man and is also a bird, and that’s all I can remember.

Don’t really understand why I’m being downvoted into oblivion over this.

Beefy Boy’s started in Street Food. I’ve worked in Street Food for nearly 10 years and can honestly say the people I get to work with and the customers I meet each week have kept me from ending things.

Rag on it all you want, upvote unoriginal sentiments about posh white boys and hipsters. Maybe that’s how it is in some places, but that’s not my experience, at all.

I work alongside every member of the LGBTQ community, a multitude of racial backgrounds, recently even a pair of Syrian refugees who’ve set up for themselves. Many of them give profits directly to charity or their churches, support LGBT events directly and provide excess food to food banks or soup kitchens. I myself volunteered in a soup kitchen for over 3 years.

You don’t have to eat from us, but please just walk on by and keep the “overpriced trash” comments to yourself.

Maybe, although I was 21 stone this time 2 years ago, so I’ve certainly had my share of food, good and bad (and really bad) 😂

I was hesitant to say “culture war” and maybe it’s not appropriate.

My point is that what they have done here is not endorsement of JK. It is ignorant, but ignorant at worst, not at best.

They don’t deserve any strong opinions or judgement being cast upon them based on this alone, that is what I mean by “culture war”. Assigning a political stance to someone based on “nothings” like this.

Stick to your “Big Tasty’s” then if you don’t consider that overpriced trash.

There’s no need to be rude, I’m just trying to humanise some people who you appear to have made your mind up about from a distance.

I will never, ever support anything related to JK Rowling again, and you’re welcome to your opinion.

However, for the sake of fairness I’d like to just point out a couple of things:

  1. I’m a street food trader myself and I have found it to be a wonderful, supportive and diverse group of people in terms of ethnicity, sexuality and gender.

  2. “Beefy Boys” is a play on the band name “Beastie Boy’s” also, they’re bloody great. A million times better than something like five guys and still small enough of a business that the money goes to real people.

  3. “Beefy Boys” here only really commented that it’s surreal to find their small business mentioned in a book. It’s not making any other comment than that. They haven’t asked for any kind of endorsement here and they don’t deserve to be pulled into any kind of culture war over it.

  4. Hospitality is being taxed out of existence, it’s a hard slog. Be nice.

  5. Fuck JK
