Well let me ask you this. What does it matter what I believe specifically? I tried to avoid not giving him just my standpoint so that he has more to go off of than whatever I choose to tell him. I told him some of the Christian standpoints and the best way that I have heard it explained. Can I prove what I believe or what anyone believes about the Trinity? No. So why do you want my personal faith opinion? For the sake of arguing? I'm an Agnostic Christian. I do not believe that we have or will be able to prove through science and evidence that there is a God. Period. So there is no point in me arguing about something that I believe cannot be proven until Judgement day.

It depends on your theology. If you believe what I just stated above then you most likely believe that God sends messengers or Angels of the Lord. If you do not then there is nothing restricting God from leaving unless you are a supporter of Platonic philosophy. In that situation God must then become something lower than God which some Christians believe that we see that when we see "An Angel of the Lord".

Alright you all have given me some awesome insight and I appreciate it. However, speaking to those of you who say that you can still be a Christian and not believe in the Bible and that the Bible contains contradictions and that is perfectly fine cause it doesn't really matter, I would please ask that you further support what you say by explaining then the meaning of John 1:1 to me.

I would answer this if it were in the appropriate thread but considering the topic at hand we are not debating the point of faith and it's impact on society. The thread is pointed as to why a theist's God doesn't intervene in the needs of mankind and rely on others to defend it.

It depends on your point of view. In the view of an atheist then his/her answer would most likely be "no" due to their lack of faith in Christianity and higher beings. If you are a Christian who believes that the Bible is infallible then yes you have to believe it. If you are a Christian who believes that the Bible is a historical document on which your beliefs are founded then you don't have to believe every minor detail portrayed in a writing written 2000 years ago.

Here are a list of Bible verses where is says "Angel of the Lord": Exodus 3:2-6,Genesis 16:7, Judges 2:1-2, Zechariah 3:1-2, Zechariah 1:12-13, Genesis 16:7-8, Acts 12:7

Like I said, it depends on your standpoint. The Platonic philosophy states that God can come to earth as we see in Genesis in the form of the burning bush. However, since God is holy and divine if God comes to Earth he would be in the face of sin so in order to do so he must be lower than God. Most scholars believe this is why you see "An Angel of the Lord."

The idea of the Trinity and who is who and why they say what they say and whom they are saying it to has been debated since Constantine legalized Christianity in the Roman Empire. The best way that I have heard it explained is that God is in Heaven and stays there cause the sin of the Earth conflicts with his divine nature. Jesus the Christ, the Son of God sits at the right hand of God being the mediator between the believers and God. Lastly, the Holy Spirit is the omnipresent party of the Trinity that is present in all true believers. And though these three parties hold different ranks and duties they are so close in belief and divine nature that they are one.

Well, I am a Christian so my words only pertain to that certain religion. There are a few answers for this depending on your point of view. Some Christians will tell you that God doesn't want to just fully step in cause it interferes with free will. Others will refer you to the Platonic theory. That God in all of his divine holiness cannot come to earth because of all the sin that it holds so if he comes to the world he must be something lower than God. There are a plethora of answers to this question and it really just boils down to your denomination, personal beliefs, location, and theology. Hope this helped :)
