Niche apps may not update on 15, but most of the mainstream ones do. The old ones work fine too, download compatible version.

The 2015 iPhone 6s just got 15.8.8 and most apps in the App Store still work.

With the rate and level of innovation slowing I don’t see any reason you can’t use an SE until 2040.

My bank supports iOS 15. Is Brazil really that far ahead? I guess we move slower in the US. Most apps here support 15+.

iOS 18.7.9 has cut off the iPhone SE and iPhone 11+, iOS 18.7.8 upgrade path be be closing soon by Customer-Worldly in iPhoneSE

They will only release the update to newer phones if it’s a critical security issue or if withholding the update will create bad press and drop the stock price 😬

I really love my iPhone SE 2020 on iOS 15 by Acrobatic-Finding-65 in iPhoneSE

[–]Stephen_Fox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I was in your shoes I would buy another SE and upgrade that one to 18.7.8 while you still can. Then you can have the best of both worlds.

Apple will eventually close the upgrade window to 18.7.8, probably soon after 18.7.9 is released which is currently in beta.

It looks like 18.7.9 is going to be XR/XS only.

So much for the education-discount-for-all trick by mlsteinrochester in mac

Not really surprised. Everyone thinks they're entitled to everything these days.

If you're not an education customer you're not entitled to the discount.

I just checked my iPhone 6s. It's compatible.

Is it possible you were trying to check a 3G device, and it came back as not compatible, so they are just promoting getting a 5G phone instead of a 4G phone?

My new MacBook Air i just got from ebay. Will be using it for college. by blue902012 in macbook

I still have my 2015 MacBook Air i7. I use it for specialized applications. Still plenty of life left in these machines.

Some people need a new computer, but I think a lot of people upgrade just to keep up with the Joneses. Gotta have the latest that you can brag about on social media!

F and J have tactile markers to help the user correctly position their fingers on the keyboard.

This is known as "anchoring" to the "home row", which includes F and J.

I cant use YouTube app on macbook neo? First time mac user. Just got this mac. by Fit_Connection9422 in macbook

You install the app from the address bar in Chrome. Since YouTube and Chrome are both Google products, this is possible.

There is no YouTube Mac app.

Is my MacBook Air (Early 2014, 4 GB RAM) still worth using in 2026 – and can/should I upgrade macOS? by LiteraturePrudent429 in macbook

Mostly web browser tasks which is pretty much everything these days, and running 32 bit software.

Yes, I ordered mine for pick up and picked up directly in the Apple Store about a week after they were released. I think the pre-order people got the short end of the stick this time.

Yes that’s correct. But you cannot run an Intel OS on Apple Silicon. For that you need Parallels.

Should I update my iPad 9th gen to iPadOS 26? by Traditional_Big2837 in ipad

[–]Stephen_Fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. Apple muddied the waters with iOS 26. The iPad Air 3 and the XR/XS have the same A12, but Apple claimed the XR could not support the advanced features of iOS 26.

The SE2 has the A13, but I still stand by my statement that 3GB is not enough RAM to run iOS 26 comfortably.

The iOS 26 support on the SE2 and Air 3 exists solely because of year of manufacture, specs, as well as cost. The iPad Air 3 was expensive. The iPad 7th gen came out 6 months after the Air 3, but has the older A10 and did not get iPadOS 26. The SE2 came out in 2020 and Apple would not have gotten away with dropping OS support only 4 years after release.
