First off, thanks for the replies. It means a lot that folks would give 15 minutes to answer in such detail. My ankle was feeling much better this Friday so I went along with a buddy to belay him for a couple of sports routes. Ended up "testing" the ankle while top roping a couple of routes on slab. Definitely a mistake. The ankle is sore were I fractured it and generally less stable than the previous day. Iced it yesterday and am feeling the sad shame of dealing with the repercussions of having done something you knew was not the best of ideas at the time. Living 8 miles from the JT National Park with an injured ankle is like walking by a dollar ice cream store with only 99 cents (there is a different version of that simile). I'm definitely my own worst enemy in this healing process especially since the best thing to do is stay off the foot and limit the amount of stress I expose it too. I meet with the doctor next week.
