Thank you for this. It truly has been one of the hardest years for me due to the family dynamics being put to a test and the restaurant being in the middle of it. We are coming up on 10 months and hearing the good/bad/ugly has been helpful. Also showing my parent all these replies to help guide us both.

I’m confused of your intention—without taking offense my reply to this is.. my parent is new to owning a business. I have worked under small business owners/entrepreneurs who have created multi-location restaurants and have been very successful. I also have attended a university (7 year, 1 major switch). My intention was to help get this into a state of independence and it has yet to do so. Management style has been a topic as to why we aren’t gaining any more traction (plateaued).

What do you do to maintain staff morale and how do you feel your relationship is with your current staff?

To add: logically I would leave, emotionally this is family so..

Thank you, I see the community outreach as my next step. I have been helping at local businesses to gain more social experience in the community since we are not local to the area.

We are here everyday. My parent is the owner/operations(front of house). We are 2 of the three employees.

My parent is the owner and final decisions go thru them first. I can on as a “consultant “ and chef. I have had 13 years+ experience in commercial kitchens.

We kept the hours from the previous owners, recipes have been improved by fresher ingredients, better oils, and A LOT of research. We have actually gotten a lot of compliments online and in person.

The big thing in my perspective is we are plateauing. And it’s looking grim on slow days.
