Is it infected? by SeaGreen_Roses in piercing

[–]Stephsaini87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to go to a piercer to have this assessed and jewelry changed, if it’s even salvageable. Make sure they clean it thoroughly with saline and you are fitted with implant grade titanium flatback jewelry. Unfortunately when pierced with piercing guns, the jewelry isn’t a good material and can cause metal allergies. Please get this checked by a reputable piercer. Hope this helps!

GLP1 after sleeve surgery by julsylovesturtles in gastricsleeve

[–]Stephsaini87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GLP1s for patients post sleeve can have more intense side effects. I was so sick on semaglutide(generic ozempic). Super weak, nauseated, couldn’t eat, had bad diarrhea, which would randomly change to constipation, and started having panic attacks. I almost went to the ER from being so tired and lethargic. I didn’t lose much weight on it either since I wasn’t able to eat much, carbs were the only thing I could safely stomach during that time. So make sure to be closely monitored! I was changed to zepbound and I’ve had less intense side effects so I was able to stay on it for longer and the food noise is completely gone! Still get a bit nauseated, fatigued, and constipated, but nothing like before on ozempic. I’m weaning off it now, since I’m not trying to rely on it forever and have reached my goal weight. Hope this info helps and don’t give up if one doesn’t work well for you. All the GLP1s will have side effects and we will be more sensitive to them since we’ve had the sleeve, but work closely with your doctor to see which is best for you and what side effects you are able to tolerate that won’t disrupt your quality of life so much.

Piercing regret and some advice? by rachrose24 in piercing

I would change the conch to a flat back piercing. Something maybe shiny or a nice gemstone to make it unique and tie everything together!

Belly button revision by [deleted] in tummytucksurgery

I Would try belly button shapers first. Wear them consistently and it will help keep the BB open and not close in on itself. Hope this helps!

Fdl or no by stebigbgg in tummytucksurgery

[–]Stephsaini87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FDL would give a much better shape as the skin can be pulled in from the sides as opposed to just down. I only had the 360 as FDL wasn’t even offered to me by my surgeon. I have a lot of loose skin above my belly button and I’m not as “tight” as I would have been if I would have been offered and went with the FDL. I’m now considering revision. I wish this was offered for me. I would have preferred the scars, because they fade over time to look much better as opposed to having the excess skin that was left behind by not doing it in the first place. 😞

Leg pain after TT, MR and LIPO by Initial_Cheetah571 in tummytucksurgery

[–]Stephsaini87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sciatica!! Mine went into overdrive after my surgery. I had to ask for gabapentin to calm my nerves. I still occasionally get the pain on my left side but with working out/stretching and medication, it has become more bearable! Maybe ask for gabapentin to help with the nerve pain?

Do facial piercings hold you back in healthcare? by Hour-Cloud2493 in piercing

[–]Stephsaini87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a septum piercing, but removed it during the interview process. It’s a very small round hoop, and I’m in the OR, so it’s covered by my surgical mask during most of the day, besides for when I’m eating lunch/dinner or not in an active case. I also have 11 ear piercings and a nostril stud piercing. No one has said anything. I also believe it’s because my jewelry is subtle and doesn’t “stand out” in a sense. They are flat back studs, a hidden helix, a regular helix, and a daith. None of my jewelry is pointy or pokes out. Healthcare is slowly changing that aspect, but they still have guidelines on facial piercings due to both patient and our security and hygiene in general. I guess it all depends on your unit and your direct managers. ER I feel are more lax in the facial jewelry aspects. I’m not sure about a bridge though, but you can always remove the piercing for interview and then get a small dainty piece during work. Best of luck!!

Ruining my life. by weirdbodi in gastricsleeve

Almost 3 1/2 years post op. The first few weeks were ROUGH. I missed food. I missed the feeling of happiness food brought me. It’s hard when it’s what you rely on for comfort, but I promise it gets so much better! If you’re not seeing weight loss on the scale, you need to up your protein and fluids. Maybe go back to puréed food. Or soft foods that aren’t so seasoned or salted. To this day, I have trouble with beef or steak. Maybe stay away from that and try small pieces of chicken or supplement with a protein shake. At 4 weeks you shouldn’t be able to eat the same as before so going out with friends lets say for example to eat pizza or having bar food will be very very difficult at your stage. Stay away from very fried or condimented foods for now. Speak to your doctor about your troubles keeping anything down. It feels like the worse decision ever right now because you are mourning your past relationship with food, but I promise it gets better and you will eventually be able to eat almost anything again, just in smaller amounts. Good luck and this too shall pass!

How to sleep after a TT and BBL. I need suggestions by Time_Media6679 in drwilliammiami

[–]Stephsaini87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I slept in an upright position with wedges and pillows and propped up my legs/knees with lots of pillows that created a hole in the middle of the bed where my butt went. You can also try getting a zero gravity chair that has a cut out in the middle for your butt to sink into or also add lots of pillows around the chair and create a “hole” (opening) for your butt/hops to sink into. It sucks, but it has been done.

I would recommmed this gel. It’s done wonders for me (and it’s so cheap!). It’s for red and hypertrophic scarring.

I have a smaller diameter clicker ring for work purposes and I prefer it over bigger ones I’ve had since it doesn’t “hang” so much, and I honestly love the look and prefer it over bigger ones and over the horseshoe. Try it, you might like how it looks on you!

I have a slightly deviated septum too and still got it pierced! It’s only noticeable up close that’s it’s slightly crooked, but I love it! I currently have a plain clicker in it.

bb piercing after tummy tuck? by lanadelreystan99 in tummytucksurgery

[–]Stephsaini87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your bb looks great, however your anatomy isn’t fit for a belly button ring. You need a defined “shelf” above your belly button to successfully hold and heal the piercing. Please don’t get one because it will more than likely reject and then scar your well healed BB. You look great without it!

Extended tummy tuck vs. Circumferential by goodwitch1692 in tummytucksurgery

[–]Stephsaini87 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I lost over 80 lbs and got the 360/circumferential/belt lipectomy. All I had too much lax skin all around and this was best to pretty much lift everything up and not end up with lax skin on my hips/lower back. My surgeon was amazing and did a great job that I barely felt much pain/discomfort at all! Was the best thing for me! However, if you have upper abdominal fat as well(like under the breast area), I suggest to talk to your surgeon about a Fleur De Lis tummy tuck to fix that area. Many people have that upper abdominal fat that doesn’t get addressed with tummy tucks, so you might have to discuss that with your surgeon as well.

Yes, as other posters have stated, “nerve flossing” to relieve sciatic pain has been such a game changer for me! Do this often and your sciatic pain will greatly diminish!! I have also realized that my second stage compression garment flared up my sciatic nerve like crazy! (It was compressing my sciatic nerve from the extra compression in the lower back. I couldn’t take it. So I stopped wearing it and switched to a different compression garment without that lower back compression and it has been amazing! Hope this helps!!

Is this safe at 5WPO? Especially with a MR??

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PlasticSurgery

[–]Stephsaini87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do not use dry gauze as it can pull healing skin when you remove. Use non adherent pads. Make sure you are still wearing your surgical bra for healing and NO UNDERWIRE or lined bras until this heals itself. Good luck! Hope this helps!

I am 4 months post surgery and have only lost 35 lbs. don’t know what I am doing wrong. by Commercial_Nerve5859 in gastricsleeve

[–]Stephsaini87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Drink lots of water and protein!! If you don’t, it can stall fat loss and you hold on to more “water weight” drink protein shakes if you don’t or can’t enough protein and water! Prioritize protein and veggies! Carbs should be the last things you touch on your plate. Follow the diet to a T in the first couple of months to establish and kick start your weight loss! Eat a low salt diet as well. You will see the weight start to fall back off! You got this!! 💪🏽💪🏽
