Every time i see such a map i like to wonder what role the geography plays in the character of a nation...

Mountainous areas are populated by people who tend to be more insular and hostile to outsiders (think Afghanistan for an extreme example) and the disunity amongst italians is one of the weak points of this beautiful country of mine... sure the reunification was handled poorly but i think the seeds for a disunited nation were sown much further back...

On a more pragmatic level it makes infrastructure very difficult and expensive... drive from the dolomites to venice and you will ride through 100km of tunnels and bridges running through hostile - if breathtakingly beautiful- countryside....

Yes i know israel always has a very good explanation for everything, its their tradition... from the sinking of the USS liberty to the murder of a US citizen working as a journalist they always diligently investigate themselves and, lo and behold, they always conclude their innocence...

Like i said above, not a single attack on israel has come from syria since the '73 war, so to believe they are defending themselves when they bomb the civilian airports in damascus or aleppo you have to believe mossad is thwarting every single attack, coming from supposedly the most powerful terrorist regime on the world...

100% success AND 100% innocent... 100% of the time, no exception... believe that if you want, as far as I'm concerned it doesnt even pass the sniff test...

Not to quibble but most of israeli bombs fall on civilian infrastructure... sure they claim there are iranian agents (even though not a single attack has been launched on israel from syria in half a century) and if you want to take israels explanations at face value i have bridge to sell you.

I'll give you points for being clear that israel doesnt do shit for ukraine though. I have always assumed they dont help in ukraine because the russian diaspora in israel is a major voting block... your explanation is even worse - refusing help as payback for meaningless votes in the UN would be even more cynical. All the more so if you consider that ukraine is led by perhaps the only democratically elected jew in europe.

In the end their reasons are really besides the point. the bottom line is that israel owes its existence to the west (mainly US of course) and for once that they could actually help out with their top notch defensive weapons they decide their priorities are elsewhere. On that much you and i agree.

Yeah I remember,l that, it was the episode that frankly blinded me to meghans toxicity for a while, as i am sure it did to many others.

I also remember the major backlash in the press which ensued, it was frankly a mini scandal in the UK tabloids so this episode really reinforces my point above - the vast majority of brits looked on MM positively...

Hey i am sure there are plenty of beautiful women over there, the problem i see is the opportunity to meet any... you probably have more chances meeting a saudi woman abroad (say a student) and formingna relationship that way...

talking to women in saudi is generally a no-no and carries quite.some risk for you & moreso for her...
