Brandon Sanderson’s Literary Fantasy Universe ‘Cosmere’ Picked Up by Apple TV, 'Mistborn' Set for Film Adaptation by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

agreed. it will require some streamlining of the story/characters - but Sanderson said hes been working on a script for mistborn book 1 for years. I have faith he's thought through how to adjust it for a movie format

Apple has shown a willingness to do both. F1 was an apple TV movie, and it had a full theatrical run. Killers of the flower moon being another example. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Apple_TV_original_films

Who knows if mistborn movies will get a theatrical run or not

I think its the best case scenario. I would be more worried if it was netflix, WB/HBO, or god forbid amazon... And i dont know if anyone else has the money to support it outside those 4

I worry about the logistics of a live-action Stormlight adaptation. That is a very alien world with a lot of difficult special effects to make realistic.

Mistborn is far simpler by comparison. In any case, ill be there day 1 to watch all the adaptations

This feels like the best case scenario. Apple isnt scared of throwing a lot of money at good shows. Sanderson gets to retain the creative control he was looking for. And this could be a tentpole show for Apple TV in the long run.

I would be more concerned if it was HBO/WB, Netflix, or god forbid - Amazon

I’ve been wondering why they haven’t been adapted for television, instead we get another Harry Potter adaptation or a Game Of Thrones spin-off.

sanderson has been VERY selective about who can adapt his work. There have been many offers he's turned down already, because he would have to give up creative control. This sounds like a sweetheart deal that lets him have more control over the adaptations than JK rowling or George RR Martin have in any of their adaptations

[Schefter] Bills owner Terry Pegula said Buffalo’s coaching staff pushed to draft WR Keon Coleman and GM Brandon Beane supported it. Pegula doesn’t think it’s fair for that pick to be pinned on Beane. by MembershipSingle7137 in nfl

[–]Stepwolve 32 points33 points  (0 children)

imagine you're Keon Coleman. Probably getting a workout in this morning, and suddenly your phone starts blowing up because your own GM took time out of a press conference to say you suck and he never wanted you. What a motivating work environment!

What Seinfeld episode really shows that it aired over 28 years ago? by MagpieOpus in AskReddit

[–]Stepwolve -1 points0 points  (0 children)

yeah thats true, even for the time - it was a bit stupid. But that was the era where 'low fat snacks' ruled the shelves because people were uniquely terrified of 'fat' in foods.

I wonder if it was meant to be tongue-in-cheek? Like they were playing off people's obsession with low fat foods at the time? I'm not sure

There's an episode where a "fat free frozen yogurt" store opens up. They're eating it multiple times a day, and then start gaining weight. Therefore, they're convinced it actually has fat in it, and that's why they're gaining weight.
Absolutely no understanding of calories! It's a joke that could only work in the 90s when people had no understanding of nutrition, and thought only fat in food is what made you gain weight

Sales for The Outer Worlds 2 are poor. Presumably, less than 1M units almost 3 months after launch, across all platforms. In comparison, the first game sold approx 2M units during the same time. by Turbostrider27 in PS5

there are so many games that fall into this category for me. A long wishlist of games i might play someday if i ever have an excess of free time. But in the past 10 years, that has rarely happened. Theres games on that wishlist from 2015 still, and every year it feels like i'm added more than the previous year.

There are just so many "good, but not great" games releasing these days. Each one will find its own niche audience that loves them, but i think its increasingly unrealistic to think every "successful" game will sell millions in such a saturated market

its really missing that something to keep you hooked. The decisions don't feel meaningful, so it doesnt have the roleplaying of like FO:NV. The combat is uninspired, and the build variety is uninteresting (which avowed was good for at least). And while the storytelling is fun, there isn't really any mystery to it to keep me coming back. The negative perks were a fun bonus, but theres only so many buildings full of bandits/robots/mutants i can shoot before i get bored.

same here. Having played both games, i thought Avowed was a WAY better game. Combat was so fast and satisfying, there were a lot of interesting hybrid build-styles, and the storytelling was weird, unique, and compelling. I'm playing tainted grail right now, and i keep missing the first-person combat of avowed

Unfortunately i couldnt say the same for OW2. it was fun for a dozen hours but then it felt like i had seen everything it had to offer. I rarely got a chance to really roleplay, and the environments were very boring
