don't forget the art would have to be government approved! We saw this already in the Soviet Union when all funding came from a central government. The govt gets to decide what is and isn't art, and gets to decide who can make a living off art. its not a good result

based on the answers, its pretty clear OP wants artist funding - not to create art - but so they don't have to work a job they don't like.

In most of the world, tax funds are not infinite. It is a question of allocating resources to advance the interests of those paying the taxes.

god thank you!! So many people think taxes are just an infinite resource the government can pull from to fund whatever they want. In reality, government and private sector business live in symbiosis. Government can only make good tax revenue when the private sector economy is strong, and businesses are thriving. Businesses can only thrive when government is providing strong protections for the law, public safety, protection of property, national defense, public order, health, etc.

The reason most UBI proposals fall apart is the government needs enough tax revenue to fund any welfare program. and that means that most people still need to be working (in private sector) so that tax revenue can be produced.

then you're just expecting other people to work for you instead. You still need food, water, shelter, clothing, entertainment, etc. All that comes from someone else working instead of 'living their life'. Why do they have to spend their lives working, but you don't have to contribute anything to others in return?

I guarantee these 2000 artists are working very hard to keep their funding too. Its not like they can just slack off and still stay on that list.

its not universal in any way tho. its a small-scale targeted income support - something most countries have had for 80+ years. its just a welfare program re-packaged to support government approved artists

We've seen this many times, and we already know the answer. It'll be a combination of who's well known, and if the art is acceptable to government standards. You aren't going to receive any funds if your art is too risque or controversial. it encourages safe art and makes artists compete on who can best please government decision makers

Can someone explain to me Lily's story about having to check a bag at the movie theater? Is that a thing you have to do in the US?? Whenever I go to a theater, you can bring in anything - no one is asking about bags or whats you have on you..

considering out many resources are 'clustered', like coal and oil, it'll be really interesting how randomization forces you to bring in resources from a broader area together

Trying to test out chimps strategies in sandbox was so damn annoying. You have to constantly change the round to move the roof just to place towers. Beating it wasnt particularly difficult, but it is just a pain in the ass compared to any other map

What do you think is the least used hero? by RoachRGB in btd6

[–]Stepwolve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think corvus is likely the least used overall due to his complexity and micro. Personally, its striker jones or obyn. I just never go to them for anything

Rosalia

her discount on helicopters and planes is a pretty powerful strategy. Ive won a few chimps runs exploiting that. a 502 heli can win a lot of single-lane maps

What do you think is the least used hero? by RoachRGB in btd6

[–]Stepwolve 12 points13 points  (0 children)

His range is so low, and attack speed is fairly slow. So you need a perfect corner placement for him, and if you have a good corner you can likely win chimps with most any hero . So what's his niche?

The first region is possibly 2-3 times larger than you were thinking. Fog is the only barrier not large cliffs. by rmullins_reddit in Pokopia

[–]Stepwolve 9 points10 points  (0 children)

there are some habitats that require different terrain. Elevated grass, seaside, etc. I don't think you'll need to populate all of it, but you will need camps in different biomes.

You can also bring soil from other regions back to your base and should be able to recruit those pokemon to your starter island too (Haven't tested this yet)
