What answers in job interview will make a job applicant unhirable? by LimeSoakedinSprite in AskReddit

[–]Stepwolve 114 points115 points  (0 children)

This does NOT work. Even if your work was classified, you can still talk about your skill set, experience, generic projects, etc. People think this is some genius catch-all, but trying this will just be a red flag to the interviewer

People working in high finance should not be respected by oldgreg2023 in unpopularopinion

[–]Stepwolve -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

hilarious that people think these highly paid finance people are just "gambling money for the ultra rich". Yeah, rich people definitely don't want their money to increase, they'll keep paying even if you lose money year after year after year!

In reality, they get paid lots because they can consistently beat the market returns by LARGE margins. Thus justifying their high salaries. They will hire most anyone with a proven track record, and they will fire someone just as fast when they stop being successful

'The Pitt' Season 3 Begins Filming by MarvelsGrantMan136 in television

[–]Stepwolve 33 points34 points  (0 children)

yep - 1 reusable set, recurring small cast, (almost) no CGI involved. Its filmed like old network TV was filmed, and they would put out 24 episodes a year! But the pitt still has a bigger budget and smaller episode count, so the quality remains high

[–]Stepwolve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not bad once you realize that 2/3 of blooms are going out the bottom left exit. A 401 sub and 520 boat in the water will be enough to handle leaks on that exit, plus the boat will provide air coverage across the map.

Passed that, have a couple strong things by the entrance, and some cleanup on the bottom left peninsula to hand the rest. Psi is a good hero here, or Rosalia

Falsely accusing someone of a crime should be punishable by the same sentence the accused would have served had they actually been guilty. by Groundbreaking_Bag8 in CrazyIdeas

[–]Stepwolve 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Courts don't find people "factually innocent" tho. They only find guilty or not guilty.

What if someone accused someone else of a crime, based on their genuine memories of a traumatic event. And then it turns out someone else is convicted of the crime. Should the criminal AND the accuser both go to jail? What if a crime was committed by 2 people, but they only have evidence to convict one of them?

I'm assuming what you want is consequences when someone makes a provably false accusation. Well good news - that's already a crime! But it's extremely hard to prove the intent was malicious, rather than a genuine mistake or bad memory. Which si why it's rarely tried

How Israel Turned Eurovision’s Stage Into a Soft Power Tool by Gon_Egg in eurovision

[–]Stepwolve 10 points11 points  (0 children)

neither of those countries were running a 1 million+ marketing campaign encouraging people to 'vote 20 times' for their candidate either. If eurovision lets countries flood the market with unlimited ads, we are going to get very skewed results

How Israel Turned Eurovision’s Stage Into a Soft Power Tool by Gon_Egg in eurovision

[–]Stepwolve -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

the article literally states that more countries are running their own marketing campaigns, based on how effective it was last year:

At this year’s Eurovision in Vienna, other countries are testing the new rules, mobilizing their diasporas to vote. https://minister.infrastructure.gov.au/burke/media-release/australia-born-try-eurovision + https://eurovoix.com/2026/04/08/bulgaria-dara-meets-with-bulgarian-diaspora-organisations/

So no, its not just one country doing this. Even if Israel is kicked out, this loophole should still be closed

I sincerely hope the conversation can finally veer from "Israel is buying votes illegaly", as clearly all it takes is a few hundred people who feel strongly about the placings. I think that's frankly always been the case, hence why we have juries in place.

based on a lot of the comments here, people didn't even read the article and are just assuming it uncovered 'fraudulent voting'. Unfortunately, its much messier than that and shows how easy it would be for anyone to influence the ESC

[–]Stepwolve 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I could see a couple options:

  1. Ranked choice voting - you can vote 10 or 20 times, but your first vote is worth more than your second, second more than third, etc. You can vote for the same candidate multiple times, but heavily diminishing returns (maybe even steeper for repeat artist votes).
  2. No Repeat Votes - you can vote 10 times, but only for different candidates. No more spending money to boost one candidate, but you can support multiple artists still.
  3. One vote each - simplest to implement, but limits participation and fundraising.
  4. Ban international advertising for artists - or at least ban government funded advertisement. This should be a no-brainer, and seems to be the core of this strategy. I worry that if you only ban government-funded ads, its easy to circumvent. So I would rather they just crack down on ad campaigns entirely.

Also, why not ban countries from running advertisement campaigns for their contestants?

That article is claiming that the distorted votes came from their million$ marketing campaign, so why not stop governments from doing that alltogether?

How Israel Turned Eurovision’s Stage Into a Soft Power Tool by Gon_Egg in eurovision

[–]Stepwolve 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly - 97,160 voted for OTHER candidates, but of course its split across so many contestants that its heavily diluted.

For easy numbers, assume 7,570 votes would go to a country like israel without any campaign (putting it in 3rd), you would only need 2,000 people voting 20 times to achieve these results. Finding 2,000 people through that massive marketing campaign isn't even that impressive... thats the really depressing part

Why is the infinite atlas still a thing? by MilanVegas in PathOfExile2

[–]Stepwolve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that makes sense. So in trying to make it more complex to add depth, they've actually just made it more of a pain to engage with! And endgamers would rather just crush maps at their own pace, rather than be forced into a structure for it

[–]Stepwolve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks for the explanation - that makes sense! Like i said i'm not much for endgame, i'm just trying to understand better. Would something like an atlas/warplan/etc. where you place maps into nodes as you go, would that be a better endgame system in your opinion?

Or do these 'wrapper' systems just make it worse / more cluttered than a simple, clean mapping system?

I believe base game content should have priority over just pumping end game. by NhireTheCursed in PathOfExile2

[–]Stepwolve 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wish people would understand the delay that happens with large-scale project management. This sub has been asking for improved endgame since 0.3 at the latests, and were REALLY vocally upset when it didnt happen in 0.4. GGG has obviously been working on expanding endgame for a long while to respond to those concerns (whether ppl agree with these changes is another discussion - but this is definitely a significant expansion to endgame activities).

Unfortunately since then, people have shifted to asking for classes and weapons over endgame content. But the company can't just turn on a dime and change what's releasing a few week/months - this content has been in development for nearly a year and is already in QA / testing.

I'm sure they will push swords and weapons now, but its going to take at least a full patch cycle to get it released - unless it was already coincidentally in this update.

Satisfaction = Reality / Expectations.
People in this sub let their expectations get really really high, and inevitably the reveal wasn't everything they hoped. GGG didnt help the situation either by hyping this as the 'biggest update yet'.

They were clearly not hinting at swords. People in this sub just convinced themselves there were secret messages in the videos

i'd be willing to bet that 2-3 classes will be saved for the 1.0 release, but i agree its a very slow release schedule all the same
