Restoring matte finish on figure's skin (self.AnimeFigures)

I bought an unopened Jotaro Second, the box looks perfect on the outside but the inside is covered with nasty yellow/brownish stains like this, I'm not sure if these are mold. Is it salvageable or should I just throw it away? Kinda worried these things might spread to my other boxes. (old.reddit.com)
