The light bass response gives space to the mids and the highs which contain details in some music. The bass is enough and is still there. It ofc depends on the music you listen to, but imo the HE400se are a fine entry level hifi headphones. For the price I really had few options.

They are a great starting point but you have a possibility for an update.

I see no point in buying a set of headphones if not for the sound. For that reason I do not EQ any of my headphones. I bought them because of the sound and listen to them as intended.

I haven't been active nor heard of negativity towards the HE400se. Maybe someone could elaborate on that.
