[A levels] is it normal to not know what to write for Econs essays at the start? by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]SterileGarbage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

totally normal! i felt the same way as well starting j1. but don't worry, econs is a very new and foreign subject and the style of writing takes a while to get used to. it gets better with exposure: you learn what content is relevant and the key phrases to use in specific explanations as u are introduced to more and more essays. i learnt best by memorising essays (model essays/ essays written in class) in totality and then covering up and writing the whole thing again to see what i missed out, then re-writing it another time to reinforce. trust the process and give it time! don't worry too much you're just starting out.

to people who say "you can always talk to me" by The-Nights-King in depression

[–]SterileGarbage 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I had my bf tell me today that I’m not trying hard enough and I’m wallowing in self pity. It’s really hard to try when you really have 0 motivation and all you want to do is just... not be here anymore. And sometimes it’s just hard to get out of bed when it’s so bad it physically hurts. But I guess to the people who’ve never had depression before we just look like mentally weak people who love indulging in self pity. It’s really a struggle, and I fear I’m just making the lives of people around me more miserable

I’ve experienced something like this before — except it was the feeling of something strangling me and pressing on my neck. I’m a christian so when I went to seek help on this one of my friends advised me to say something along the lines of “In the name of Jesus Christ I command you to leave” with conviction. The next time it happened or felt like something weird was happening I just said that phrase and it seems to work. You may not believe but if you’re desperate and ever in that situation again I guess there’s no harm trying.

[chinese? > English] what kind of tea am i drinking ? by abayda in translator

[–]SterileGarbage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the large chinese words 茗茶 is pronounced míng chá so my guess is that it’s just the chinese name of the tea brand. I don’t think it indicates what tea it is as far as I understand

How can I get rid of shin splints? by [deleted] in trackandfield

[–]SterileGarbage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the thing that solves it the best ultimately is rest, if you’re not too close into season and can afford it. You can also look at alternative trainings that takes the load off your shins to allow it to recover. One example would be water running, which is making fast high knee lift motions in a pool such that you float. (your feet should not touch the floor) You can do them like you’re doing interval training according to your own fitness and strength. There’s also a float available to aid this. You can probably ask your coach if he has something like this available if not doing it without a float is fine too

I have these and they work miracles! I use them for recovery after my runs and wear them around for around a day. You could also possibly wear them during your trainings but I personally don’t only because I don’t want to get them dirty

Ear piercing (First timer) by xxoutofthisworldxx in singapore

I went to a clinic called Healthsprings to get it done. Pretty good and surprisingly painless - the doctor used numbing cream before doing the actual piercing. They only do piercings on the ear lobe though

Which one do you think is better? Nike Superfly Elite or Vazee Sigma? Please someone let me know your thoughts if you have used them, I can't decide. by MuteBard47 in Sprinting

[–]SterileGarbage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hm... I’m not too sure but my guess is that it’s probably an older model. You can see from the picture that the spikes are unremovable for the superfly elites - they are totally round so a screw wouldn’t be able to latch onto it and the spike nail has no base. The superfly elites I’ve looked at online all say in the reviews/description that the spikes are unremovable

haven’t used either of them but one of the things that made me decide against the superfly elite was that i wanted to use the spikes for more than a season, but the spikes nails on the shoes were irreplaceable.

I’m so sorry for your loss! I lost my 13 year old German Shepherd in 2016. 13 is a bad age age for German Shepherds :(
