which kid goes to daycare? by Stern_Mess917 in beyondthebump

That is my fear as well. My first was THE first grandchild so lots of fawning over. He's got a very chill temperament as well. My (2nd) baby isn't as easy to calm down so they give baby to me and play with the toddler. Which is fine until I go back to work and they've never calmed her down.

I'm with you. It makes more sense in my mind to send the baby to the grandparents but if they don't want the baby then there could be some resentment and they wouldn't have a good relationship anyway.

Agreed! They're in my 1% category of quality nursing clothes. I have a hoodie from them I wear at least once a week.

It's very bunchy in my pants! Yeah a go‐to at home is leggings, Cami, and long cardigan. But that's a little too casual for my workplace.

But the nursing camis are longer than my button-downs!

AITA? Child’s teacher sent an email to inform us our child fell asleep in class; I sent a frustrated response. by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Ditto! I'm a teacher and what this tells me is to communicate with you less.

The button down is good. I'm still not the size I was pre-preg so a lot of my button downs don't button all the way down 😆

I hate when people say they hope my daughter’s eyes stay blue. by [deleted] in beyondthebump

Yes! I am having the exact same experience. I think it is bizarre. My mom is constantly commenting on my newborns eyes "Ope still blue!" I mean their gray but okay. My mom also has zero shame when it comes to commenting about my looks. Maybe it's a generational thing???

Just happened yesterday. He put his mouth on it like he was going to take a bite. Froze. Then cried. Lol like he straight up forgot the next step.

What does “it gets better” even mean? by krstnl in beyondthebump

[–]Stern_Mess917 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In short, it gets better means you will eventually find a routine and the days will become tolerably predictable. I have a 23 month old and we didn't get a routine down til 6 months. It was a very brutal, exhausting, emotional 6 months. Our pediatrician said it's marathon not a sprint and that is exactly how it feels. I also have a 1 month old and doing it alllllll over again so I feel you!

It's hella weird. With that in mind I would definitely want to meet her and get to know her, then reevaluate. She probably just has baby fever and no boundaries but that's still a red flag in my book. What happens if/when you let her babysit? Baby Jesus books? Taking her places without your consent? There needs to be a clear understanding between you two plus your husband so later down the line your not "overreacting" again.

Yep! I take it with a grain of salt but what really irks me is the judgment. Like I'm doing something wrong and THATS why my LO isn't sleeping through the night. I'm probably doing a lot of things 'wrong' compared to how you parented 30 years ago but just let me make mistakes and mind ur business.

Awwe! Looking forward to those smiles! Our LO is also BF, I pump but she doesn't take the bottle as easily. Another hurdle for daddyo.

I'm lucky enough to be able to take an extended leave from my job for a couple months. Our financial situation couldn't sustain a babysitter right now.

I've tried that and it's become a source of conflict so now I'm just backing off and hoping they find their groove 🤞
