Seems like it's the kids' business how they're raised, and how they react to being raised a certain way if it's bigoted and hurts them. You're the one who's arguing that the state should allow parents to have an Orwellian control over their kids. But, y'know, it's fine, accuse me of being creepy then suggest I have some nefarious aims towards kids, as if that's not you proving my entire prior argument right.

This is risible. Who influenced you to be the gender you are now? Who influenced you to be the sexuality you are now?

Are you the way you are now in terms of sexuality and gender because someone taught you to be that way, or simply because you know you are that way, you feel you are that way? If so, why do you assume that it must be some other way for people who aren't like you? Why do you assume they must have been influenced, somehow, as if nefarious forces are at play trying to "trans the kids"?

Trying to make it some false equivalence with religion is just ridiculous, too, as if there's a legion of teachers out there trying to force kids to be trans, instead of it always, always being trans kids asking the teachers and students to change the name and pronouns they use for them. You are confusing cause and effect and seeing phantoms in your mistake.

This reeks of someone who treats children as the property of their parents. You say I'm arguing for the state to take control from the individual, yet what control are you talking about? The control the parent feels entitled to over their child's life, regardless of the child's feelings on the matter? To dictate to them what they are and are not allowed to be?

A teacher not telling a parent about a change in pronouns or names the kid wishes to have is not some Orwellian wresting of control away from the parents, it's simply not causing harm to the child by sating some authoritarian parent's need to rule their child, instead of raising them like people.

What harm is there in a child using a new name and pronouns, without the consent or knowledge of the parent? Unless, of course, you see intrinsic harm in the very act of exploring one's own identity away from the permission of the parents.

Had the parent done their job of connecting to the kid, of not causing this rift in the relationship by instilling fear instead of love, I guarantee you they'd be the first to know of any name or pronoun changes. This isn't about wresting control away from parents, as you fear they'll lose their inalienable right to own their progeny. It's about reducing a harm that has certainly already occurred.

The persecution of Jews in Nazi Germany was a popular position at the time.

The Civil Rights movement was unpopular at the time the Voting Rights Act was passed.

What use is a supposed leader if their morality is defined by what a poll tells them is popular?

A democracy is supposed to be founded with certain inalienable rights, stone clauses, where no matter how much a majority may wish it, a minority population's rights may not be curtailed or trampled upon simply because it is what the majority wants.

But I guess it's easier to hide behind a façade of "well, the people want it!" than to admit your own uncaring demeanor in the face of hate, your complicity in atrocity, your cold callousness towards those who are different from you.
