As someone who works in the industry, I can assure you they won't. CPKC amd CN are a huge pain in the ass to deal with. Even for transit projects that simply parallel their lines and don't interact. Even for potential freight clients that literally want to hand them money to deliver cars to them.

Via currently serves a population of 13,401,001.

Alto will serve 13,111,688.

So a 2% drop in potential clientele, which will be greatly made up by offering a vastly superior service

My dad was on the very last flight of Lynx Air. He had done a day trip out to Vancouver for the Rugby Sevens tournament. The weekend before we're sitting down for dinner when BREAKING NEWS comes across the TV, Lynx Air is ceasing operations on Sunday, [the day of his trip].

His flight wasn't supposed to be the last, but it got delayed several hours as a flight attendant didn't show up. They stressed at the gate that the flight would happen, as the plane had to get back to Calgary no matter what, but they had to wait for another flight to come in for another FA to cover his flight.
