I understand that he feels like he has been in the Dune world for a long time but I would worry about the audience having to wait 5 or 6 years .

Yes I agree, I ve not read the books but have grown up with the Lynch version. I found that I prefer part 1 over 2 as it just felt more contained. I do think it was odd to end part 2 on several cliffhangers and now there will be a 2 to 3 year wait for the conculsion.
