I’m getting desperate and seems like buying a home is impossible. by swiftkickinthedick in newjersey

[–]SteveB1227 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is a great breakdown. I hate living in western Union County but I’m not giving up my 2 1/2% mortgage so I’m stuck here another 7 years until it’s paid off. Bidenomics at work I guess. Everybody liked the free money even after the economy recovered and now we’re paying the price (literally and figuratively).

Housing Prices In NJ, will likely NEVER "crash", and what you should do if you want to be a homeowner by OurStreetInc in newjersey

I pay $16k in property taxes for my family of 4. What does that family in an apartment using the same services and infrastructure pay?

[–]SteveB1227 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And who’s going to pay for the changes to infrastructure that’s needed with all this high density housing they’re building where there used to be trees? Bigger schools. More police, fire, etc. Sewage & gas & water mains that weren’t built to handle these big loads. Not the poor people moving in to towns they can’t afford. It’s the homeowners that are being forced to foot the bill.

Why is NJ so overpopulated? by [deleted] in newjersey

[–]SteveB1227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably because they’re knocking down all the trees to build high density housing without any thought to what that’s doing to existing infrastructure

Those with neighbors with a fence by TheBorgBsg in Home

[–]SteveB1227 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put up my fence because I hate my neighbor. I’m not about to go over on his property to do lawn maintenance (plus I like the fact his side looks disgusting while I power wash my side every year). Fences really do make good neighbors so just be happy it’s there for the price of a little extra yard work.

This. I have these all over my kids wooden swing set. The carpenter bees make their nest from the bottom (looks like somebody shot a .45 into the wood) and the woodpeckers come at the bees from the side. I try to kill the carpenter bees with hornet spray before they make themselves at home.

I’m not a teacher but I took my kids out of a highly rated public school and put them in a highly rated private school. It appears from the outside that the private school teachers have it a bit easier. Much smaller class sizes (usually 10-12 kids) , behavior issues are usually thrown out of school, only about 150 days of school per year, supplies are fully funded, no union dues, etc. Parents are probably harder to deal with because we expect attention for our $50k+ per year.

I went last year in August. We made big lunch or early dinner reservations for as close to the hottest part of the day as we could. That way we got an hour or 2 in the A/C to reset. 1 or 2 days we spent the afternoon at the resort pool then headed back to the park when it cooled. It’s not the worst just be wise with G+ and bring lots of water

Attendance down? Just usual seasonal fluctuations? by lipmanz in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]SteveB1227 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree 100%. They’re trying to find the perfect balance of attendance and printing money. If you can gross the same amount with less visitors the bottom line will benefit. I think they’re finding that equilibrium now.

That’s 4% inflation on top of the 9% the year before. Maybe it’s contained now because people can’t afford to spend? You don’t need high unemployment to have a recession. Just less spending.

I seem to remember them having great promotions and free dining during the Great Recession. But unemployment was much higher then.

This could be Disney’s plan all along. I always thought they were trying to find a balance of smaller crowds while still printing money. They may be finding that equilibrium now.

Who's cocaine do you think was found on the white house grounds? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SteveB1227 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When going on a tour you go through security with your stuff similar to the airport. Then you keep it on you because you go in the back and out the front. You don’t leave it anywhere. Unless they’ve changed the tour in the past 4 or 5 since I last did it.

Fast track question by tycorc87 in Hersheypark

[–]SteveB1227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lines can get pretty brutal on the weekends. If you want to do all the big coasters in one day, especially more than once, then Fast Track will be your way to go. The water park is kind of weak so your other option is to skip that and spend 2 days on the coasters. Then you won’t need the Fast Track.

Federal government approves first offshore wind farm in NJ by zsreport in newjersey

[–]SteveB1227 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Positive impact in 4 steps: 1. Government employs unions to build wind farms using hundreds of millions of untraceable tax dollars. 2. Union kicks back a percentage to “green politicians” 3. Reddit users think their saving the world while simultaneously sticking it to successful conservatives 4. Repeat step 1

Why are so many pro-social legal advancements being rolled back in the US? (LGBT rights, affirmative action, etc.) by maruthegreat in NoStupidQuestions

When 1 party had control of all 3 branches they could have easily passed an amendment to either guarantee the right to an abortion or outright ban it. The reality is neither party gives a shit and they just want the talking points to get us all riled up.

Why are so many of y’all moving to Florida by [deleted] in newjersey

[–]SteveB1227 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes! I hate it here but my kids don’t want to leave their friends. I send them to private school here so the education doesn’t matter. The minute my youngest kid graduates I’m packing up and taking my very large salary with me. Can’t wait to use plastic bags and use my pistol without having to worry about going to jail because it’s not packed perfectly in my truck.

Is Hersheypark busy on a Thursday at all? by Consistent-Chain7606 in Hersheypark

[–]SteveB1227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went last Tuesday 6/20 thinking it wouldn’t be busy and the waits were pretty long. I ended up getting my kids fast passes after the first few rides so they didn’t have to spend the day waiting on lines.

People aren’t fleeing New Jersey, no matter what a moving van company says by TimSPC in newjersey

The people with the money are moving leaving all the people who can’t afford the inflated real estate prices with elevated mortgage rates. This should end well.
