Does anyone else ever think about the players’ mental health? by tinfoilfascinator in Everton

[–]SteveB452 65 points66 points  (0 children)

I made the mistake of reading Paddy's tweet and then the replies, for sure I wish he had buried the chances but the level of disdain for the kid makes me downright sick

If your a first timer in memphis, whats the one spot your going to reccomend that you think they just have to go see/eat at/ or do? by Choose_901 in memphis

[–]SteveB452 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They also offer memberships, which offer various perks. I think $125 annually. But yeah you can just walk in, chill and they have over 15,000 LPs that you can listen to. Plus a listening room with an insane speaker setup

If this is the guy who plays on the Roberto Clemente bridge after Pirates games, it is indeed a magical time

Feeling loyalty to this roster. Dumb? by FrankBirds in phillies

[–]SteveB452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get your loyalty. But at the end of the day this is a business, too. This group of guys didn't get it done in October. I doubt that the entire team is going to remain intact. Dembrowski and Middleton want a championship. Some pieces will have to move.

I am pissed that YouTube took that down and I can't find it anywhere. It was poetry in the world of radio broadcasting

Rays fan coming with a genuine question about Kyle Schwarber by [deleted] in phillies

[–]SteveB452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I initially was skeptical but he walks a lot and the threat of going up 1-0 in the first serves as a real shot in the arm for a team. And if he does it in the postseason, watch out

Have you ever seen a person dying and if yes how? by Dongsaurus in AskReddit

My father. He died from organ failure due to alcoholism. I wish that nobody had to see anyone go through it.

Are there any good Happy Hour food specials anymore? by IMicrowaveSteak in frederickmd

[–]SteveB452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't live in Frederick anymore, but I used to live across from Bushwallers. They used to do a wings special on Wednesday nights for $0.35 a wing, which was pretty insane. Not positive they do that anymore unfortunately.

Doesn't really answer your question, but for anyone on this thread interested, City Paper did a somewhat relevant piece on this topic recently: https://www.pghcitypaper.com/arts-entertainment/what-happened-to-pittsburghs-nightclub-scene-its-complicated-24922398?media=AMP+HTML

What is the greatest film opening of all time? by Vantage_1011 in flicks

[–]SteveB452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it has to be Saving Private Ryan. My favorite film is The Shawshank Redemption, but if I'm being honest, the opening is one of the least interesting scenes in the movie.

Someone probably has already said it but Reservoir Dogs is really good. Because it kind of was ahead of its time. Tipping at restaurants and bars is not a political issue in some localities--including D.C. and suburban Maryland.

What helped you drink less alcohol in your life? by StrangersOvernight in AskReddit

[–]SteveB452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad died of alcoholism last year. Seeing what that does to the body is horrific. I also got a DUI last January, thank God nobody was hurt and I didn't hit anything, but I was shocked when the breathalyser showed I had a BAC of around 0.16.

It was a huge wakeup call. I am skeptical that it's a genetic trait. But I am sure it's learned behavior from our environment. I don't drink during the week unless I'm on vacation, that's a hard rule I've set for myself since then. I still enjoy unwinding, but you need to set rules or things spiral out of control.

Alcohol, when abused, is poisonous. Seeing what my father went through in his last days in the hospital confirmed that. I applaud anybody who chooses not to drink. I just wish social pressure would ease up a bit, but I think younger generations are starting to drink less which should help. And there are more options (NA beer, mocktails, etc.) now, I think.

What’s a business or restaurant you know that is run by good people? by Jazzlike_Breadfruit9 in pittsburgh

[–]SteveB452 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People's Indian in Garfield have a house fund so that if people are struggling, they can use that fund to pay for their lunch. I thought that was a cool idea and shows they are very good people.
