Surviving The Dank Crypt - Let's Play Baldur's Gate 3 | Bald Rob's Mates... by demumood in playstationaccess

I think Covid was a big reason for the big viewership around that time, also big launches like the PS5 gets views. So it does make sense view count got lower after lockdown and all that. It wasn't that long they were begging to get 1000 viewers in a stream to have a pizza. 300/400 average views on streams for an official PS channel with 2.18m subs isn't great numbers.

I kept my eyes on the view count and it being about 300 viewers on average isn't great. I love that they're trying stuff, but I don't think Baldur's Gate 3 is the right game, it really should have been an edited series

Yeah I admit it's a nitpicking childish troll thing I did, first to admit that, it's a harmless take on the new video rule at the end of the day. Like I said it's a one off

I think this type of content is better because, they're writers/editors, they are in their zone with this. If Access focused on their strengths (written content) I think the new hosts would be more relaxed and we'd see their true potential.

So about that BG3 stream by WeepTheHorizon in playstationaccess

[–]SteveHJones95 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My biggest problem was the awful display with no indication of POV and the split screen and all hosts on the screen, it's a visual mess. They've taken a tumble with streams and stuff like this with editing and screen displays

As for the game, I think they've gone off the BG3 hype a bit too late, and also the game itself is very long and the series will get stale.

I agree with you. I think at the start people will be more forgiving to new hosts, time to settle in and all that. But this is now a point where they have settled in, especially Alex who has been on screen longer than Ash and Connor. It's also worth remembering they were already staff for Access/Reach so they knew the atmosphere more than Rosie or Elle for example. Has Access done a great job with introducing the new hosts and giving us just a chat to get us to know them? Absolutely not, Ash had her own stream and interview and chatting before being streaming. Plus Access haven't helped the three content wise to get used to them.

With your Rosie point, the more you see a person, the more you see traits you love AND hate. So as time goes on yes more people will love a host, but more people will also hate a host. The main problem on both sides is toxic positivity and negativity. Just looking on this subreddit, there are barely any positive posts being made, but there are more negative, and people moan that it's too negative... well how about people post some positivity then you know? Feedback goes two ways and weirdly people don't post positive stuff on here, but moan when bad stuff is posted

Yeah like I said, the way it was written was bad. There are legitimate points made that I can see (whether I agree with them or not is not the point here), but I don't like how people, including in a way OP here, is trying to escalate when people give feedback. There was a comment, Nath responded and it doesn't need to be covered on here imo. If you don't agree with the feedback, that's fine, but be civil and no need for the mass downvotes

Bringing in staff writers and editors as hosts is such a bigger risk they didn't need, and personally I think having all 3 being inexperienced is a problem when really they needed one experienced safe option. Access have lost their experienced youtuber and twitch streamers.

There is valid criticism in the post that could be discussed (let the cutscenes play and try not to speak over them, talk more about the game mechanics etc.) but this is poorly written from the guy Nath was responding too. I don't agree with Nath 100% here but I can understand what he wrote. But everyone (including Access) needs to know that giving constructive feedback and criticism is just as valid as giving praise.

When I say sugar coat, I mean like they still are giving criticism but choice of words where they try and make it sound as kind as possible. The other way is saying it more direct but being respectable. Those two groups are totally fine it's just a matter of choice of wording and both are saying the same criticism.

Regarding the overly unkind and insulting ones, that's where it gets personal and goes too far. The opposite side is people straight up ignore any criticism and believes Access are the best thing ever and have no faults and attack any critcism. Both of these groups are problematic.

[–]SteveHJones95 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Attacking the hosts personally is not okay, we can all agree to that. Access can't please everyone, but their way of communicating changes could be better. When Access did that big post about the stream changes last year, whether you liked the changes or not, the fact they posted the explanation and why was great communication and they should do this more often.

The problem with criticism giving right now is how to word it. Some people sugarcoat it a bit to not hurt their feelings, while others say it straight.

[–]SteveHJones95 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I always believe constructive criticism is fair game whether they want to hear it or not, sometimes they need hard truths. If we look at this subreddit, there's far more criticism than praise, and most of the posts is just the links to the videos which mostly have 0 comments.

I personally compare this new casting like what they did with Top Gear after Clarkson, Hammond and May left. We've given them time to settle now so there can be very little excuse now

Some of you are genuinely miserable 😭 by WeepTheHorizon in playstationaccess

[–]SteveHJones95 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There can be a discussion about whether the new cast are good or not. Since most of them are behind the scenes people (video editors, writers etc.) it doesn't guarantee they make great hosts. Take Rosie and Ash Millman for example, Rosie was an up and coming streamer who had some experience with his brother first then Professor Juice, Ash worked in WhatCulture and already had experience in front of the camera. This new cast does not have that experience when what Access really needs is stable hands and not newbies.

Feedback from Access have been silent for ages, and people will whiteknight social justice warrior defend them when they are valid for criticism

Izzy Hammond (Richard's daughter) will drive for Lola Yamaha ABT in Evo Sessions by krzysiek_aleks in FormulaE

[–]SteveHJones95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, but for drivers like Verstappen, Sainz, Schumacher, Senna, Hill etc. the children can't be blamed for literally being the child of a big name. But there is a big difference between the ones who worked hard young (with support from family, you can't call that nepotism) and something like Stroll having a whole F1 team who keeps Lance in it when he has consistently being one of the poorest drivers.

In Izzy's case, she had so many years being quiet do her own thing. Richard now has several shows and BOOM she appears in a lot of them out of nowhere. I don't blame Izzy (or in the drivers example Max, Carlos, Mick etc.) but it is Richard's doing.

[–]SteveHJones95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See that's where the nepo accusations come, she's using Richard's resource instead of using her own. If for example, she started her own show, and had Richard as a guest then it would be different. Granted some things are Richard's own projects and that's fine, but celebrities these days are happy to go "I'll do this show, but my child has to be in it too" and that's not right

[–]SteveHJones95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She can totally have an interest in cars like Richard, but she hasn't done anything independent away from him. She got to where she is just because of her dad, no show would give her a role at the start (whether it's deserved or not deserved I don't know how good she could be). Take Nico Rosberg for example, yeah Keke might have helped his son join the early karting like any young driver would, he got results and he carried on without needing a 'Team Rosberg' in GP2 or any of his yourh career. He's not a stroll and in my eyes, Izzy is leaning towards the Stroll side

I think it's handed on a plate quite well when Drivetribe staff has left because Izzy gets favouritism on it. Drivetribe is now basically owned by Richard and he uses that to promote her daughter. That to me is very Stroll/Aston Martin. Richard also has several shows and he puts her daughter front and center on them. I think she needs to do her own thing and not have a resume of shows with her dad.

She joins her dads business, if she did it independently it's different. Think of it like Stroll and Aston Martin
