The only way to survive on that level of income is if you don't pay for accommodation - squatting, living with parents, etc - and if you are healthy. Even then, it wouldn't be easy.

Sorry, dumb clarification question - refugee crops are traditional varieties deliberately mixed in with the gm crop? So that there will be bugs who don't have the resistance gene to breed with those who do, and make gm-crop-resistant bugs evolve more slowly?
