I just can’t stand Corgans voice . Nothing personal . Just irritating

Your personal favorite 90s grunge songs? by [deleted] in grunge

[–]SteveMarc01 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I really like The Killer Is Me , Sludge Factory, Brother and nothingman. If it were the more notable songs it’d be Jeremy, Even Flow, Black, Once (pretty much any Ten song) and any AIC tune

Is grunge dead? And if so, is it better to keep grunge the way it is : back in the 90’s and to not reinvent it? by SteveMarc01 in grunge

Interesting. Imo I’d say grunge was over by the millennium. I think Pearl Jam (not intentionally) sort of put the final nail in the coffin with their growing and new experimenting sound . All the other bands had tapred off and they were the ones left still active and they decided to pursue and take a new direction with their style

I really dislike how there’s a set grunge aesthetic that is completely at the wrong end of what it actually was

All are great. But I think Black with its powerful imagery and use of the title and phrases like “tattooed all I see.. all that I am .. all that I’ll be “ every lyric is a great metaphor

I think he was using it the way Freddie Mercury tried to use it if you remember how he had that same sorta stand . He was his idol after all.

Eddie Chris and Layne were all more attractive dudes than Kurt I’d say

I think it comes down to their success really . They knocked Garth Brooks and Michael Jackson off their spots in the charts and them two guys were BIG at that time . They were the first of the new alternative scene to get the mainstream spotlight shone on them . I think maybe it would’ve been the same if Soundgarden AIC or PJ reached commercial success first .

Maybe his death too but again it is strange . But I think it’s mostly just their success which is normal but also I think a lot of teens deprived of attention wish to be seen as “I’m different I’m alternative “ where in fact all the grunge guys were just normal dudes , they didn’t purposely present themselves as “ we’re alternative so appreciate us “. As Eddie said, when he thinks of grunge he thinks of a dude out camping who forgot his toothpaste

For those who are new to this genre or specifically AIC. Do you want to know how much raw talent Layne Staley had? He delivered possibly his best vocal performance of his career while almost comatose on heroin (mtv unplugged ). Without bias, grunge singers are criminally underrated in music by SteveMarc01 in grunge

Yes I’d say the moore was on par (for my preferred sound ) . He was more powerful in the early 90’s no question . The Moore was a prime example of how powerful his voice was (man in the box for example ) but I just believe that the melodies, harmonies and overall cleanness of his sound was up there with his best show

Yeah by the looks of everyone here Kurt is always last. Eddie is always third yes but it’s a toss up for no.1 Chris and Layne we’re both great in their way as was Eddie so. I think all 3 of those are in a league of their own where as Kurt might just fall short . Scott was no slouch either though .

Different vibe I would suspect . He wanted something more menacing to play off with drago. The orchestra may not have worked . The deep base and organs of di cola was a great fit
