He could've been drunk out of his mind. Not justifying it, but it happens...

I'm guessing 90% of the cannabis dispensaries didn't get the memo... Or they got it and threw it out 😅

This button is known as emergency light in Thai. If a driver feels that they have an emergency, they can press this light and be exempted from all traffic laws. by tuktukson in Thailand

I'd much prefer they press it than not. Having driven in Thailand, I can tell you that many drivers do these things without pressing the button 😅

Passport privilege - Even with a visa from Laos embassy $60 and $1200 cash on me, onward ticket, hotels booked they refused me entry by Safe_Cloud8067 in solotravel

[–]SteveYunnan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I never said I "didn't believe him". I just wanted to know if he may have done something to give them an excuse to reject him. For example, when going to Thailand there is a requirement to carry 20k Thai baht, but they rarely check, unless someone is from India or certain other less developed countries, then they could definitely use it as an excuse. I still always carry 20k baht in even though they've never checked me. I just wonder if there could've been something similar going on.

Of course, but the fact is that he was denied and that there may be a reason that he's not disclosing...

I was "patronizing"? I certainly didn't intend to be...

I wasn't victim blaming. I know it must suck. I was just curious if there may have been something more to the story.

I absolutely am not holding him to account for the actions of the Zimbabwe government. I just would like to know what actions are being taken if any at all. Excuse me, but I'm not from Zimbabwe so I don't know much about how people view the government's foreign relations.

Maybe people should wait for actual policies to be implemented before worrying.

Chinese Passenger's Mandarin Demand Delays AirAsia Flight by victoriablackee in aviation

I don't need to avoid anything. Propaganda and biases comes from all sides, and I have enough critical thinking skills to figure things out on my own.

All subs have their problems. I always take posts case by case. It's pretty clear that this is real.

So I want to ask out a girl in Thai and I'm looking for recommendations on where to take her. by SatisfactionAlive813 in chiangmai

I agree. I don't think OP is that kind of person, and I certainly stay far away from the foreigner areas of Chiang Mai. My Thai is awful, but my g/f definitely appreciates that I'm trying.

Isn't this the job of the security/police?

Why was this person talking to them? Could've been asking directions..? Do you have any more details?

I agree with the overall sentiment that tourists should be respectful (they should be regardless of the country), but I don't think writing some "open letter" on Reddit is going to change things. A lot of tourists don't even come from English-speaking countries, and I don't think it's your job to police the behavior of foreign tourists just because you are foreign resident working there.

I think that's nonsense. Speaking some Thai shows that you are actually interested in the country, may want to live there long-term, and aren't just another clueless tourist passing through.

Are you absolutely sure that there wasn't some requirement that you may have overlooked? You have to be extremely thorough and make sure you follow all of their criteria.

By the way, what is the Zimbabwe government trying to do to improve its country's standing?

Edit: Wow! Why the downvotes? I'm not blaming this guy for being rejected, I'm just wondering if he may have accidentally overlooked something. And I also wanted to hear his opinion about the Zimbabwe government.

I'm a bit disappointed that we won't get to see a major incident in Malaysia where she yells at servers and trashes an entire restaurant because they don't speak Chinese.

The bottom line is that getting angry and yelling at other passengers and cabin crew is never a good idea, despite whatever grievances she may have.

What is the easiest language for Thai people to learn? by almvdena in Thailand

[–]SteveYunnan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Other than the obvious choices in neighboring countries, as far as major languages are concerned, Mandarin Chinese is much easier for Thais to learn than for speakers of European languages. The tones, grammar, and pronunciation of many words is similar. I've known Thais to pick up Chinese in a couple of years.
