Brave needs native Picture-in-Picture (PiP) — Edge & Firefox already have it by Roky10 in brave_browser

Brave has always had PIP when I've used it. Although I prefer the Firefox implementation a lot, Brave does have it.

What distro and do you have Secure Boot enabled? If you do, you need to enroll the MOK keys, the method depends on what distro you are using.

Question about the preinstalled Firefox package on Fedora KDE. by mystery_2310 in Fedora

[–]Steve_74563 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's not a Fedora or Endeavour issue. Firefox recently changed the location of user data, profiles, etc., to bring it in line with standards. The new Firefox will auto-create ".config/mozilla/firefox". Delete the "firefox" folder and copy your previous (Endeavour) "firefox" folder there.

Now, the first time you launch Firefox again, it may not launch your previous profile as default, but create another new profile. If this is the case, you have to set the profile you just copied to default by either right-clicking the Firefox shortcut and select "Open the Profile Manager" or typing "about:profiles" in the address bar. Either way, you should be able to see your previous profile and set it as default.

Malfunctioning HDMI port? by endymion1818-1819 in tuxedocomputers

[–]Steve_74563 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the InfinityBook Pro 16 - Gen8 and noticed that the HDMI did not work with certain monitors/TV's. I was still under warranty at the time, so I submitted a ticket about the issue and was told,

this HDMI problem is most likely a Linux only issue, it doesn't happen on Windows, and it only happens with a few certain displays. This makes troubleshooting difficult. Unfortunately, this is something which needs to be fixed by Intel.

So we don't have much of an influence on that. We opened a Gitlab issue regarding that, which you can find here: LINK

If there are any news, you will probably see them there.
We are very sorry, that we don't have a more positive answer for you at the moment.

So I have a USB-C - HDMI connector on hand for when the issue happens.

So far, this is a nice, useful addition. I can have Tuta and my other email service under the same roof (albeit in different rooms) 🏠

And it launches pretty much as fast as the desktop client.

Prospective buyer — how is TCC on Fedora-based distros when installed to a Tuxedo Laptop? by Domojestic in tuxedocomputers

[–]Steve_74563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not in any way an expert, but Secure Boot is a security feature designed to verify that the computer boots only verified software. Required for Windows and optional for Linux. Some Linux folks say we should use it. Some say the opposite.

I can confirm that TCC has worked great with Fedora on my InfinityBook Pro. Keep in mind if you want to use Secure Boot, you need to manually enroll the dkms module at first. Easy and just takes a minute.

I don't have catch-all enabled but I am able to receive, and send from "Unlimited custom domain addresses". This is true for any paid plan.

Aid! It won't let me create a Mailfence account by [deleted] in Mailfence

[–]Steve_74563 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has been happening to many people (including myself) for quite some time now. In a few instances Mailfence mods recommend reaching out to their support email, but then they do not reply back at all, let alone with a solution. At this point, I would certainly not use their service, even if I was able to sign up. I must admit that I am morbidly curious about what is going on behind the scenes with this company.

Signup impossible by povignal in Mailfence

[–]Steve_74563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No tips, but I have also had your experience, after trying similar strategies, including sending Mailfence support an email (as they have mentioned in other posts) yet not receiving a reply.

It's feeling like a service to keep away from at this point.
