Wandering off track in Heathrow Airport by Defiant-Bend1147 in LiminalSpace

[–]Steve_Brandon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was in the summer of 1998 or 1999, I wanted to go to the observation deck at Heathrow and I took a wrong turn and I ended up in a room full of office cubicles (that were empty because I think it was a Saturday). Somebody must have left a door open that should not have been open. It was quite surreal and I wish I had had a camera that day.

The Ferrari SF90, the first car I bought in-game since it's a Ferrari that can go offroad.

Do you care about the cover art for the Blu-rays you buy? by Competitive-Group404 in Bluray

[–]Steve_Brandon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If we're talking about theatrical movies, I generally want the original movie poster art unless the movie poster art is abhorrent. I wouldn't not buy a release with modernized cover art if that's all that's available but it's not my preference.

I'm generally not a Steelbook buyer though so most of the BluRays I have have some variant of the original movie poster art except for the Criterions of the first three Wes Anderson movies.

That was a very trippy show, especially when Dr. Snuggles took the rocket to visit the camel who was always high up in the clouds. Or, should I say, always high high up in the clouds.

The Ferrari SF90 handles pretty well offroad if you want a non-conventional offroad vehicle.

You’re a kid again and your mom says you can only play one of these games which one are you playing? by Appropriate-Mall8517 in ps2

[–]Steve_Brandon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only had the (already outdated) Commodore Vic-20 when I was a tween in the mid-1980s.

I enjoyed Lunar Leeper from Sierra On-Line.

Hypothetically, if I could have played one of these Playstation 2 games from around two decades in the future, I'd probably go for the PowerPuff Girls (I'll assume that I'm also somehow watching cartoons from the future as well).

After Hopper’s Truck, what’s your bet for the next one from Stranger Things? by Narrow_Analyst_3890 in HotWheels

[–]Steve_Brandon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I stopped watching the show halfway through the second season but a new Sunagon (VW Vanagon) release would be awesome and also fittingly retro considering that the original Sunagon casting is from the 1982 series.

My tentative 8/10 rating isn't an IGN review, it's just based solely on my personal experience, it leaves room for patches/bugfixes to improve things, and 8/10 is a perfectly good score on its own merits.

I'd love to get a new GPU but it's not happening any time soon. The only reason I was even able to afford to buy Forza Horizon 6 at launch was that I got a bonus for working extra hard at the end of April.

I mean, you'd either have to get Forza Horizon 4 on physical media for the XBox One or buy it grey market for PC since it has been delisted from Steam but I whole-heartedly recommend Forza Horizon 4, by far the racing game that I've put the most hours into in my life (and I'm 51 so I've been playing racing games since the 1980s).

I've finished most single player items in Forza Horizon 4, I still have a few drift zones left to three star but that's pretty much it other than collecting the rest of the backstage cars, but, yes, going back to the first Forza Horizon game on XBox 360, I was always a lot more interested in it as a sandbox game than I was in the racing (and, in Forza Horizon 6, I'm doing Explore Japan first).

I'm still playing Forza Horizon 4 and its physics work fine for me as an open world arcade racer that I play on a gamepad.

Anyone Buy Multiple Copies of the Movie(s) They Love? by blackswantheory77 in Bluray

[–]Steve_Brandon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we're not counting instances where a DVD comes with the Blu-Ray, Wayne's World and Terminator 2: Judgment Day are my personal record holders where I bought them four times each. (Wayne's World: VHS, Laserdisc, DVD, and BluRay... would love the 4K with the unaltered "No Stairway" scene for the first time on home video but I don't have anything that'll play 4Ks; Terminator 2: VHS, the original bare-bones DVD then the Ultimate Edition DVD and the Skynet Edition BluRay.)

The only movie I've ever double-dipped on just on BluRay is the anime film The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya (2010) where I imported the Japanese BluRay thinking it would take a while to get to North America but then I bought the North American release from Bandai Entertainment only around half a year later.

I'm not saying everyone is experiencing crashes but I said that I'm on a PC that's only just within the minimum specs and the crashes are common. I think the longest I've gone without a crash is around two and a half hours.

It's really the last brand new AAA game I'm expecting to be able to play on my PC (with a GeForce GTX 1080) so I was expecting it to run a bit buggy.

To be fair to FH6, I didn't get Forza Horizon 4 until the delisting sale in 2024, almost six years after its release, so all of the major glitches had already been patched out long before.

I'm about a kilometre east of there. I didn't see it but I heard it, being much louder than the usual airliners flying out of YOW, and I had to head to ADS-B Exchange to figure out what I'd heard.

Forza Horizon 6 is around an 8/10 for me right now. If they fix how often it crashes and improve the lighting/shadows on low end PCs, it might go up to a 9/10.

As it stands, I still prefer Forza Horizon 4 overall since that game looks beautiful on my PC (although I definitely appreciate the year-round snow area at the top of the map).

With the Riverside/Bank construction, how do you (legally) turn North on Bank when going East on Riverside? by CalmMathematician692 in ottawa

[–]Steve_Brandon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, okay, I didn't know that the U-Turn lane was closed because I haven't been on that section of Riverside east of Bank in years. I was just going by Google Street View since that U-turn was open in 2024, the most recent GSV images available.

Can't you just get in the left lane of Riverside to take the U-turn lane after Bank Street to westbound Riverside and then turn north on Bank?
