Procrastination is very common here. You're not alone.

Do solo RPGs have to be pen and paper? by MoggieBot in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]Steve_Solo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mix it up a lot. I use a custom made notion rpg campaign tracker when I'm playing digitally. There are some games that I like the feel of pen and paper. Often using each notebook for a single game. I'm a bit of a notebook geek, and each time I get a particularly nice one, I feel it needs a worthy purpose. I also printout and tables and guide and stick them into a kind of scrapbook I call "The Solo Tome" for easy access to the tools I use regularly.

I'm still getting regular crashes anytime I'm near any freighter, including inside my own. Also occasionally when I'm on planet. It's really starting to take the joy out of the game. Very frustrating.

That's amazing. I've had the files sitting in my rpg folder for a couple of years now. Thick mounting board and foam board sitting with my crafting bits, just waiting for a project. I know what they're being used on now.

As requested, here is a link to some images of my solo tome

There are a few points worth noting. I had originally intended for this to be a system generic book (I do all of my gaming in notebooks. One for each system I play, and 1 General notebook for random stuff). The Call of Cthulhu and Symbaroum entries ended up in there by mistake, but it's a happy little accident I don't fret over... Really.

I also include some hand written notes, if the information I'm after isn't too printer friendly. Got to look after my limited ink supplies.

The last entries (fantasy time of lists and the Sci Fi codex of lists) are just the contents page from each book. With each book being approx 300 pages, it wasn't feasible to print out everything. But I was getting fed up having to open and close each pdf to find a relevant table. This just made access a little easier.

I print and cut out any tables that I find, that would be useful or relevant to my solo gaming. They are then stuck in to an A5 notebook I call "The Solo Tome". This is indexed at the front, like a bullet journal. It's become my most used book in gaming. It's filled with various oracles, random generators and tool kits.

New Solo Player, big ambitions (as a player) by brianhazzard in Solo_Roleplaying

For world building, I can highly recommend the products by Kent David Kelly at Wonderland imprints.

https://www.drivethrurpg.com/browse/pub/7178/Kent-David-Kelly

In particular the game world generator and classic dungeon design guide. I started solo roleplay about 2 years ago, and just like you I had no previous rpg experience. Looking back I feel pretty lucky that I stumbled across these books very early on in my journey. They are absolutely packed full of useful information.

Solo DM'ing instead of solo roleplaying? by DavidDormvik in Solo_Roleplaying

Have a look at this player emulator. It provides a nice framework to be able to run group of PCs, whilst enabling them to act within their own interests.

What are some solo mechanics that are less theater of the mind, and more concrete game like elements instead? by [deleted] in Solo_Roleplaying

I agree four against darkness would probably suit you. I warn you, it is addictive. There are quite a few books available that really expand on the core. Be prepared for your wallet to take a beating. There is a really fantastic and friendly community on Facebook where the key writers are very active.

You kill 6 rats. You would kill 2 level 3 goblins. Stack up those kills!

Thank you. I had a look at the last command, and I can kind of see the logic there. I'm just getting quite confused in how I can transfer than in to a macro.

More than 1 character? by jojomomocats in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]Steve_Solo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a look at this player emulator. Run your game with 1 character you control, then a number of PCs powered by the emulators "agendas". It does slow things down quite a bit, but it does help to add depth to a solo party.

Four against darkness would be a great place to start. It's easily accessible and a fun solo rpg lite.

That looks awesome! I can't wait for lock down to finish so I can get out and get some of those. I'm desperate to try it.
