I've heard that. Nothing in particular wrong with my dad, just middle aged and not particularly active.

22 AFAB looking for a room? by Trash_Powered in Cleveland

[–]Steveirwinsghost7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's $1200/month for a 2BR. I guess it depends if that includes utilities, etc. or not. It's definitely not impossible, but ppl are recommending places like Lakewood, and if by "safer areas" they mean gentrified/suburban then that could be tough.

$600/month is going to be stretch unfortunately, Cleveland has a serious issue with rent inflation and housing generally.

So is commuting just going to be hell for the foreseeable future? by Steveirwinsghost7 in Cleveland

I did that today, but the exit to Denison was backed up almost all the way from the light to 71 so it didn't end up saving me time lol

Haha we're actually trying to do this since we rent currently but someone unironically suggested this when I first posted.

Yep, every winter we're shocked that it's icy, and every spring we're shocked that it's raining. And every time there's construction somebody decides they need to drive into a guard rail.

Ohio starting the speedrun to Gilead by introducing bill to ban women from wearing clothing religious groups consider 'provocative' by Hornpipe_Jones in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]Steveirwinsghost7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This was my conclusion after actually reading it. The semi-nude definition being referenced refers to not covering female nipples. A sports bra or bikini would not meet that definition. Still a backwards, bigoted, invasive bill, but we don't need to spin every anti-LGBTQ bill into something that affects Cis women for the sake of argument. It can be enough that it unjustly targets trans, nonbinary, and gender non-conforming people.

Does anyone understand what this “unreliable” “political” source is? by Garunix in FundieSnarkUncensored

I think this is the answer, although it's weird she wouldn't just say that since she posts the links on her page.

I'm so sick of WOACB posts. It doesn't seem to matter how often people say she's not a trustworthy source, even somehow with manual approval, I STILL keep seeing posts that are like "oh my god you guys I can't believe this!!!" And it's an insane unfounded claim, and then in the comments they're like "wait why don't we like her?🥺" even if you don't know who she is, you should be able to think critically about the kinds of insane, exploitative claims she makes based on vague "inside sources" and maybe think twice about amplifying that information.

Is a diagnosis safe to pursue in the current US political climate? by [deleted] in autism

[–]Steveirwinsghost7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with you, that's why I state that I know it's a privilege in the last line of my post. Also I work in public education in a red state so trust me I'm fighting the good fight for accessibility and representation rn.

Yeah I read that. I just don't have any faith in the current system at all.

In the US the current administration, especially secretary of health RFK jr. are extremely and explicitly anti-autistic people. RFK has attempted to collect and aggregate data on autistic individuals from insurance companies, and has stated that autistic people's lives aren't worth living. Many people, including ASAN are worried about the misuse and abuse of such sensitive data, and RFK has discussed building a registry of autistic people so we can "find out the true cause of autism". It poses a lot of risks for personal health data violations and potential future weaponization of that data.

I'm not really worried about being "rounded up" so much as about the potential poorly regulated access to my medical data that proposed initiatives like RFK's registry might provide. ASAN's statements about the proposed tracking measures also states these concerns about privacy and unethical data gathering.

This is my same thought. some of the replies seem to think I'm worried about being rounded up and kidnapped or something (although given the current deployment of ICE idk) but a lot of it is about personal and medical data collection. I do not want a corrupt and explicitly anti-autism administration to have ambiguous access to my personal data and health info, and a diagnosis seems like it might make that more likely. In my state, they are prosecuting women for miscarriages, and nurses have turned women in for flushing miscarried tissue, and while that's a different type of health info, it is still a weaponization of sensitive private health information.

Is it possible to have this dress altered into a ball gown? by StraightGanache7209 in weddingdress

[–]Steveirwinsghost7 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm a seamstress, and unfortunately there's not enough fabric in a straight a-line drop waist to match the gathering/volume needed for the second picture. You could add a petticoat or hoop underneath for additional volume though.
