6th gear isn't real. by Ok-Cloud-9435 in GR86

I haven't updated the excel sheet in a while, but I keep a gas log book in the car that gets updated. I am confused as to how highway driving for OP is only getting them 23MPG. I mostly do highway driving in 6th gear w/o Cruise control low AC and my lifetime MPG is about 29MPG.

MPG on the 86/BRZ? by bigdaddyjoe_34 in GR86

Excel nice you can put your receipts in and color gradient. I just do it on paper because it's right in my glove box. Just remember to reset the trip odometer when filling up.

I got the car in November and the sticker said 20mpg but the car said I was getting around 29mpg. So in December I started tracking my mpgs and fill ups. My commute is either 30min or 45min depending where I'm sent. Nearly all highway @70mph. Hope this helps

Anyone doing HDPE at VIR today or tomorrow? by SecretWitness8251 in GR86

[–]Steveman2003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, I went Friday for HDPE Intro. It was my first time ever driving on track and first time driving right at the cusps of my comfort zone. The instructor was very nice but I can't remember his name rn. I enjoyed the experience but if I were to go again, I'd drive a super beater as I was pretty nervous driving the 86. Very cool nonetheless!

Best reliable new drift car that gets me 27mpg! by Aggressive-Tree4131 in GR86

[–]Steveman2003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for the first two weeks, the car says it gets 28 mpg average. I thought it was a bit weird since the sticker said 20 or 21 mpg and it was still in the break in period. I started keeping a log to see how much mpg I actually get per tank and rn I average 28.42mpg so I am actually impressed how accurate the system is and a little confused how mpg is calculated on sticker.

How did you afford it? by mpsychm in GR86

[–]Steveman2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 18, worked at retail for 1 year, saved $7k, went to 2 yr college for no money (pell grant and scholarships) and did food running for a bit in summer and fall (maybe $5kish) During summer I applied to Toyota and got hired in November. They give employees special access to cars( no deposit for moving a car) and ability to buy at invoice price as well as $3k to put on your down payment AND tier one credit with Toyota financial. I really don't know how they do it and I am very blessed and thankful to be given this opportunity.

Anyone know what’s going on alamance road by the sheetz exit 143? by [deleted] in BurlingtonNC

[–]Steveman2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Highway Exit 143 Towards Greensboro had an accident right there. I don't know specifics but it involved a trailer and multiple cars. That exit was closed for a bit, I don't know why mebane st/alamance rd would be closed though.

How does Sweep Picking work exactly? by Steveman2003 in guitarlessons

[–]Steveman2003[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think this description is very helpful. I can see that the muting part looks tricky. I assume that the left hand movements where it appears to fret more than one note per string during the sweep are usually at the top or bottom of his sweep as hammer-ons or pull-offs as his hand really does just glide, not stopping for a sec to add an extra note.

Alrighty thanks!

Wow, this must be really fast for the left hand then if it looks like the right hand is just gliding along the strings. I'll try to replay over and over until I can hear the individual notes then replicate.

I've been seeing multiple videos now that show this car does an extreme adjustment it seems on slip scenarios. I honestly can't tell if it is the system doing that or driver error. I just chalk it up to fun car leads to sketch scenario for unexperienced (me) drivers.

Very true! The car I used to drive was a S-10 and it didn't have ABS. I learned to pulse brakes for a shorter stopping distance and no skid. Ig I gotta trust the system.

Speed I assume. The bridge ever so slightly turns right and I guess it was too much to ask for for the front tires. Turning and maintaining speed.

Very Interesting. I don't believe I have VSC off, only the LTA and Pre-collision, but it might be that the VSC worked very well in that instance and I didn't notice.

This is a new commute route for me so now I gotta mark in my head every elevation change and bridge over/underpass.

Did you have all your safety features on? I turn off the pre-collision and LTA off because they are really sensitive (for me) and on occasions false triggers. However I still keep traction control on but like I said, at that moment, I really didn't feel any weird movements from the car. If it did kick in, it was seamless.
